Picking up a cargo conversion tomorrow, have some ?

We are pretty stoked. I have a couple questions, however.

1. The roof vent doesn't have a fan. Is there such a thing as a battery or 110v powered fan that would fit in the space without having to replace the whole vent?

2. The trailer has some interior lights that run off the tow vehicle battery. Is it possible/wise to tap into that in order to hook up a 12v outlet (just for charging a cellphone in the camper rather than the tow vehicle, when not hooked up to 110v.

3. I'd like to have the option of a roof rack on this trailer. What is recommended?

Thanks for the info. I'll probably keep this thread updated as we change it to suit our style.

Roof racks are available that bolt to the side of the cargo trailer
where the vertical stiffeners are. I'd check contractor suppliers.

With that kind of door latch you will need to lock the outside so
that it can not be used to latch you in.

mikesova, Howdy;

Excellent score!

The box on the tongue would be a good place to drop a 12v
battery into for powering a few 12v items. Only a suggestion...

Look on this page I had some solar racks custom welded with diamond plate as IMHO contractor
racks that stick up 12" make me wanna barf    Mine would blend in perfect with yours.
I'm thinking to do the roof edge in diamond plate car wrap style

Good luck & nice build you bought.

For the fan give this a look

You can see it installed on this page

Could you post up some more photos of the inside of your trailer? I'd really like to see how it is built. Congrats on the find!

Nice score! Somebody has already done all the hard work for you!

Looks like it was set up to run on shore power only (electric cooktop?!), don't know about you but an RV park is about the last place I want to experience the outdoors. A Coleman camp stove on the countertop would go a long way toward your freedom, better yet a propane cooktop with a 20 lb. tank mounted somewhere. If there is space in that tongue box, I'd drop a group 24 or 27 battery in there. Most OEM towing harnesses don't provide 12v to the trailer unless the engine is running.

The rest is gravy! Lookin' forward to seeing what you do with it.

I've got a coleman 2 burner stove that will work good for no power situations.

Yes, it's wired for "shore power" or a generator. The previous owners used a little honda. I'll have to look into it a bit more, but at the moment, I'm not really crazy about wiring up a separate DC power setup. So, I was thinking, would it be reasonable to use one of those mobile power packs to supply the 110v in the trailer? For charging phones, running some lights, etc. ?

Something like this:

http://www.harborfreight.com/5-in-1-por ... 60703.html

or build something like that in an ammo box with a deep cycle battery, inverter, and 12v charger.

That's probably a good solution if it's all the power you need. Could charge a few phones off of that, and run your lights for a few hours. Any more would be asking a lot from that little 18 Ah battery.

You could convert your interior lighting to LED (if it isn't already) and get a lot more mileage out of that battery. There are LED lamps that plug into the same socket.

I think i've decided to build my own "powerpack". 12v deep cycle battery in a box with a power inverter hardwired to it.

Judging by your feet, you look very relaxed in your new trailer. I think you made the right decision with the homemade power pack, can't wait to see what you come up with. Congrats, here's to many miles and smiles.

I just ordered this battery:

http://www.amazon.com/UPG-D5722-Sealed- ... le+battery

this inverter:

http://www.amazon.com/Whistler-Pro-800W ... s=inverter

and a 12v outlet. I plan on installing the battery in a battery box and mount the inverter on the box. I'll probably keep this setup inside the tongue box.

I also ordered this:

I'm thinking of mounting it in between the cabinets or below the power outlet on the wall. It's a wall mount tv platform that I am planning on sitting my laptop on to watch movies on rainy days. :)

I use a power pack when I camp. It runs a 40w lamp fine. That's all I use it for. Never camped more than 4 days/3 nights. I did do a test with a strand of 100 Christmas lights. Ran for more than 18 hrs straight. Not sure how much more as I had to go to work.

In the immediate future, I am planning on using the power pack for overnight w/o power on a road trip (sleeping in the walmart parking lot). We need to air up our mattress, run some lights, a small fan, charge our phones, etc.
