Just curious, a fellow next town over has one for sale, 7x14. He had full completion down by some company. Fold down bed (metal frame, micro, fridge, shower (to small for me) a/c unit, nice shelving/cabinets, sink, TV, awning, all hookups for campground, etc. He bought to haul his Harley, never used it. He is asking $5100.00, 2012, 7x14. Does it sound like a good deal to all you experts (and I mean that) on here? Only problem is, my wife don't like black, wants lighter color!! Thoughts please.

How handy are you and what do you want?

You could get a comparably sized secondhand RV trailer for that if you don't need the hauling or don't otherwise specifically need a CTC. They're usually better wife colors, too.

Depending on how much work you do yourself, you'd spend that much or more on your own, but probably have it closer to what you want - especially if the shower doesn't work for you - that's a chunk of space right there.

He's probably got that much in it plus his time. It's the right deal for someone - just a question of whether that's you.

If you want to haul a bike, have a shower for the wife, and want to hit the road in a few weeks - looks like the way to go.

I agree with the previous poster. Look at the cost of the basic trailer, add in the cost to install door, windows, awning, etc. and you may find that the seller is basically trying to recoup some of his costs.

I am presently in the finishing stages of a 5 X 8 conversion (no build journal or pictures yet). I won't have the asking price of your trailer in mine, but it may come close when I am finished. So, when I compare my 5 X 8 to that 7 X 14, the asking price seems reasonable to me.

And I am the same agreement with Jeb814 and khigh above
It might be a good price to start the negotiations with if you did not want to make any changes. Is it insulated? Does it have the right wiring for your needs (AC and/or DC). Or will you have to take things apart to do it like you want/need?
But if you want another layout and if you have to remove panels to insulate and so on, then maybe you can do better by starting from scratch. What items will you discard so as to be able to use what you want such as cabinets?
Look at the tires and type of axles. Are they what you want?
I like black, but am staying away from it for the obvious heat absorption issues. I just ordered a silver as the lightest color I could get other then white.

Hope this helps a little.

I think it's a deal to get started with it's good size has a awning = use it and decide later what you would do different. I personally want a shower and toilet to be totally self contained ?
building a trailer from scratch would cost more and it's a lot of work?

Spotman, Howdy;

You may have to replace the tires (5), they age out of life, check the date of manufacture and if
they are more than 3 years old it would be a smart thing to do, especially if they are ST (Special Trailer),
types. Could give you some "Haggling" room. Get some White paint or take it to Maco... Figure
out what you don't like change it make it yours.

Haggle it down and make it your! Great start.....Price all the major components and it will worth the effort to make a deal. I would offer $4,400 and go from there, but if it is not insulated, then I would offer less and still buy it and pull everything out to insulate/add items I wanted at that time.

:? Thanks everyone for the thoughts and replies. I have built in the past a standee, teardrop, tent trailer and long log cabin (see in my gallery some of them). But now at 64 and all the "Growing" pains I have accumulated, I know I can still outfit a Cargo Trailer from scratch. He won't go down any further at this time, has been advertised for a while now. So looking at a new one in the near future.

Again, Thanks... :applause:

:D He dropped the price to $4800.00 as advertised, has everything needed just some adjustments.
Probably new tires over remodel time, it is insulated, the the shower size should be an easy fix, Plus the paint job can come along later too. I have a Tundra, so, no problem towing, :worship:

Getting close, just gonna offer a little lower because of some of the excellent remarks on here.

Now to convince the "Boss". And three Dachshunds. :roll:

Still following you all on your projects and what you have done. Really excellent work out there.

Bob

ps. Oh yeah, no toys, just camping and enjoying the great outdoors. :thumbsup:

Spotman, Howdy;

Now you are looking at the price of a Brandy new one without the improvements.
Don't hem-an-haw it's time to strike and get your bargain.

:D If the bank gives me the money, it will be in my driveway tomorrow afternoon. Got it for $4500.00, need to order a good brake controller for the Tundra, shouldn't be a problem towing home about 25 miles max without one, country roads!

After I get it I will change the subject title too... :wine:

:thumbsup: It's in the driveway, no problems towing home, can't wait to have wife give final inspection and a few makeovers for her taste. Looks real good, want to meet others on here on some future trips, or if you are ever in the area, there is a place for you. :FNP

Bob, looks like you got a good catch. Since we are only about 6 hours apart and since we both are just starting our conversion, we should plan a long range meet someday and look over each other's projects.
I hope to start getting to it later next week after my son's wedding in PA.
