7x14 ChiefBuild

I recently picked up my brand-spankin-new 7x14 enclosed cargo trailer. I had it specifically built how I wanted it, with a 5000# drop axle, RV door, Color matched to my truck, with the LED upgrade. Spent a good penny, but I think it will be well worth it.

My intention is to turn this Cargo trailer into a toy hauler that is light enough to be towed by my 2013 Toyota Tacoma (less than 5000#). I had to make some modifications to my Tacoma, and fortunately, I got those taken care of right away to increase my towing capacity to 5500#. I am trying to keep a light, yet functional design while still incorporating some creature comforts. Below are pictures of what I have done thus far:

Good luck with build. That looks like a "real" rv door. Not what I got when ordering the same thing. :(

Well, for the last three days I've been at Seattle Children's hospital while my son is in recovery from heart surgery. He is doing really well, but that's not why I'm posting today...I have another blog for that. I had to get on here and vent because I received a nasty-gram from my neighborhood housing office. I live in post housing, and I have this awesome two-car garage and very nice driveway...perfect for working on my cargo trailer conversion. The housing office has apparently been receiving phone calls from one of my neighbors because my trailer is "an eyesore" and I "shouldn't be allowed to park it in my driveway."

The same neighbor called the housing office twenty times on another neighbor for multiple things from having oxygen in their house (their daughter requires oxygen for her disability), and toys in their yard, and their dog gets out every once in a while. My issue with the whole matter is: what happened to the days when neighbors talked to each other? People get wrapped around the idea that they are too good/high-and-mighty to be neighborly. Half my neighbors come over and talk to me about the trailer because they're curious about what I'm doing. A few guys in the neighborhood have helped me do some work, and talk about how they want help with their own in the future...maybe I'm just too popular for some neighbors to handle? Lol...has anyone else had any complaints on them?

Don't have the neighborhood issue you do luckily.....but sounds like it's time to bend over to get the paper at the end of the driveway in a very short robe lol

chiefb711, Howdy;

The folks at the Housing Office are probably getting tired of fielding his
calls. Have you gone to the office to have a friendly chat with them? I'd
ask for an up to date version of the reg's. to see if there is anything that
you may be doing that is not ok? Sounds like a Male spouse that's wife is
deployed and doesn't have a job...

Thanks for your Service.

hank

PS. Saw a sign out front of a business when I was in town today;
"Imature is what bored people call folks that like to have fun."

lol. I have so many ideas but I think any of them would land me a visit from the MP's. This woman sits at home all day, she's pregnant, and her husband is deployed...instead of making friends in the neighborhood, she makes complaints on everyone. She told one of my neighbors (and new friends) that they didn't belong in the neighborhood and that she was going to continue to call the housing office until they got kicked out. But I mean, I really wouldn't have a problem with her if she wasn't such a terrible person.

I got my beer fridge stocked and I am still allowed to drink those in my garage...so I'll park the trailer elsewhere, fabricate at my house, and get a 72 hour pass every weekend to install. I have no problems following the rules, and I guess I'll be having a heart-to-heart with her husband when he returns from his cush deployment in Kuwait.

I talked to the housing office today on the phone. They are the ones that told me it was the lady making all the complaints. The guy at the housing office said he didn't see anything wrong with my trailer parked there, so long as I wasn't living in it or using it for business purposes. The housing regulation doesn't specifically say anything about trailers, but it talks about RV's and business trailers. The guy also said that he has had to send out a letter and field phone calls for every complaint that woman makes. I expect a few more before I return home on Monday...that's also when my awning arrives, so I'll install that bad boy before I move the trailer!

As for my service, it's my honor and privilege to serve! :thumbsup:

Aside from my rant, I did just order my flooring. Went with the rubberflooringinc.com black diamond rubber flooring. I also got a coupon code for 28% at checkout. It really only saved me $10 because there was already a 25% sale. It is what it is. Can't wait to get it!

I already have one of these in my garage, and it's probably the best workbench I could find for the money. I am thinking of a way to adapt a new one into my CTC build, and replacing the particle board top with an actual countertop. This would give me some good storage options and drawer sliders and extra sheet metal for use in the other areas of the trailer. Maybe I'll keep looking...it's a start for cabinets I guess.

It's really sad because I never went through this crap in enlisted housing...what is it with Officer's wives that make them think they're better than everyone. It's really only Lieutenants wives that I've had problems with. Oh well.

I think I got pretty lucky now though, my new neighbors that moved in this transfer season a both pilots and I'm a 60 mech so we all get a long pretty dang good. I did the pre-emptive nice neighbor thing and cut their front grass while he was on deployment
