Awning recommendation

Greetings, first post here. (Awesome forum).
I am accommodating my cargo trailer (a V nose 12X6) so that I can sleep in it while I am hunting. I say accommodate because the trailers main purpose is to haul & house my Polaris Ranger.
I just finished insulating and putting wood in the walls and ceiling. I used it for the first time last week and I came to realize that I really, really need an awning. The south Texas sun is really harsh. My original plan was to use my EZ up roof but it is not that EZ to put up or take down by yourself. Is there an awning out there that you all recommend? One that won't break the bank? I searched around the internet and found the Outsunny Awning on Amazon ($375.00 for a 12 X . Sorry for the long explanation.

NOTE: I do need to put a roof rack or something up before I can install the awning because there is not much room above the door. Maybe like 2" at the most.

Which awning do you all recommend that can be attached to some kind of roof rack or that it might attach to the top of the trailer.

Good question. I have a roller awning on my 7x 16. I have just bought a 6x12 TA with 4 ladder racks so the upper awning rail won't thread properly....I am thinking a tarp tied to each of the 4 ladder rack uprights, then poles at the outer edges........looking forward to seeing people's ideas......

12' x 10' Medium Duty Tarp attached to trailer with 4 hardware store hooks, 1/2" conduit for poles, ratchet straps to hold tight. Takes about 10-15 minutes to set up by myself. Probably $50 spent not counting straps that I have to have to tie the bike down anyway. Only drawbacks are the poles and straps in the camp area and there is about a one inch gap between the tarp and the trailer that drips a little when it rains. The door does rub on it, but it has rounded corners so it doesn't seem to be a problem.

The ARB style ones are good if a bit pricey but there are many copies , iron man and tigers 2 spring to mind.
Check them out on ebay of Australian ebay if you can't find them there

I have two of the ARB ones on my trailer. great awnings but like another post said, similar can be found for less. I don't have experience with others to speak of.

I love my Rhino Rack awning. I attached it to a Rhino Rack roof rack. You can get optional solid side panels to close it in also. They offer a mosquito/mesh attachment as well. Rhino Rack offers good quality roof racks and accessories as an alternative to the regular Yakima, Thule, and ARB brands.

After looking at the prices of RV awnings on rollers, ARB and Rhino Rack awnings, I imagined making my own...much like ksbiker's set-up. But, instead of just attaching it to the side of my 4x8 (yes, nota cargo conversion), I want to anchor it on one side, and use PVC tubes to suspend it over my trailer, serving as rainproofing and heat insulation (asilver, heavy-duty tarp) for the trailer roof, and as an awning for use on the "front porch" of my campsite. Thanks everyone for your responses & suggestions. I will look at these. I did consider making 1 like ksbiker suggested. I have a large tarp, poles, hooks & ground stakes to make an awning like the one ksbiker suggested but I was trying to see if there was something I can set up a little faster & easier. Thanks again.

P.S. Anyone heard anything (good or bad) of the Outsunny awnings?

On my cargo I just bought it has a Carefree of Colorado, easy to used, don't know price, but if it didn't have one I would probably rig one like others have.

Spotman, that is pretty much what I was looking for. But I did see that Rhino Rack Foxwing and man that was niiiice! A bit pricey but very nice. I will look into the carefree Colorado.

Interesting thought about the trap over the top, but I'd have to figure a way to raise it above the vents
and some folks have an A/C up there to ponder about as well.....

Less than $300

I have this on my trailer and is the best way to go IMHO on a cargo trailer. Mine is the classic version 11 foot. I didn't want a regular RV awning since the arms would make it impossible to open the door all the way open when needed.
