Framing "room" to interior

Hi All,

To anyone who's added an enclosed bathroom or closet of sorts to your CT, how are you attaching it to the walls of the trailer? Just going through a 2x4 into the steel studs I would Imagine? Same with the floor? Just want to confirm or see if there's a "better than other" way to do it.

Same goes with cabinets. Uppers more importantly. Just using the studs?

Thats what I did just make sure screw is not to long and comes out back of stud Good luck and post pics of your build

I'm in the middle of my build (still). I'm using mostly 2x2 lumber for my interior framing. My basic design philosophy has been to let my wood framing reinforce the steel studs and visa-versa. In other words, instead of framing from the floor up, I secure the 2x2 structures to the steal studs in the walls. This method makes the steal structure even stronger AND reduces the amount of wood I need to use. I use self drilling "wood to metal" screws to secure the wood to the steal studs. Not sure if that answers your question but hopefully it helps.

Google "French cleat". As the previous poster said, anchor the cleat into steel or wood framing of the CT.

Guys thanks for your replies. That's Kind of what I had in mind, that french cleat looks pretty interesting. Any more insight on this? I am quite intrigued and a bit more confident starting to frame after reading that....as long as I understand it. Thinking I'm going to go the route of building my cabinets.

The trailer I purchased uses plywood on the walls instead of luan, so I can attach with screws/staples and glue. Had I purchased a luan interior trailer, I was going to replace the luan behind the cabinets with plywood so I had something solid to screw/staple to when building cabinets. French cleat is also a great idea if you are going to stay with the luan...
