Cargo Trailer Conversion Campout/Meet and Greet?

Hey all,

I'm a new poster but I've been lurking for several years. I was wondering if anyone on this forum has planned a CTC specific camp-out. My wife and I were talking about how much fun it would be to get together with other folks (lunatics?) that have nothing better to do than build CTCs. Seriously I'd love to see your CTC's in person. Has something like this happened and if not, would there be any interest in it?

:D Mike, I am all for that, on the "Right" coast! No really, would like to travel and meet up somewhere too.

Lets see some of those pics of your trailer.

We're willing to travel also. Maybe some place between the left and right coasts :)

Mike - sounds like a great idea!! I assume you're thinking of summer months?? I should have my CT on the road by then (Great Green North).

But there'a lot of territory between the left and right coasts!! We're at the top left - Vancouver Island - but willing to give it a go!

Thanks for suggesting the idea!!

It doesn't snow there and there's no need to heat the trailer. Campfires, swap meet, rocks, gems, RV parts and lots of food vendors.

It could be an option if I planned on a long visit. Ok, will put it on 2016's list of places to consider traveling to. It would allow for the scenic routes to the Yellowstone area on the way down to AZ which my wife badly wants to do.

Well if we divided it up into East and West for starters, then I know a place just about at the center of the western half of the contiguous United States. It has a 90-mile long lake with 360 miles of shoreline in a National Recreation Area, all surrounded by public land and National Forest. A major river runs through it. 12,000-foot peaks rise from its southern end. Yellowstone is just 4 hours north. A days drive from anywhere in the western US. It never gets hotter than 90 in the summer. Camping everywhere, from primitive off-grid BLM and Forest Service, to full hook-ups, and everything in between. (43 campgrounds!) There's too much wildlife. I even know a decent fishing guide. Just avoid holiday weekends.

But really, I'd rather meet somewhere else since I live here. I'm pretty centrally located for the West though. Southern Idaho would be a bit closer for you left coasters.

Seems to me that there are CTC's throughout the continental US and beyond. How about meeting closer to the geographic center of the US? Colorado? East coasters, what do you think?

The geographic center of the continental US is Lebanon, Kansas. I'll have to pass on that one! :) Colorado might work, just west of Kansas. But then, I'm only about 20 miles from the Colorado border here. If a gathering were to ever take place, it's a lot to ask of anyone for one national place. I think it has to be somewhat regional to have any chance. East-west. Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Northwest.

Mike:

What time of year were you thinking? I guess Q would be wintertime for us northerners? And summertime for Utah??

Hey, you and I are practically neighbors. I was thinking late summer. Being from the west, my bias would be a for a gathering in the western US. But I don't want to exclude the easterners. Maybe regional gatherings make more sense.

Hmmmm

All of these ideas look worth considering even if I almost from the right (east....if the other coast is left, then this must be right), I certainly would consider any of the options. That is the benefit of not being gainfully (means retired) employed.

I had better get busy on my build, hadn't I?
