Anyone ever rhino line / Herculine / Monsta line the roof of their cargo trailer???

Mine isnt leaking, but i'd love to get rid of the ugly curved metal and permanently seal it up after the AC and vents are cut in.

What about the sides (sides have the painted aluminum)
I know it wont help weight or mpg...
They make some cool colors in the monstaliner that would look soooo much better than the dirty white my trailer has become.

I've been considering this as well.

I want it for four reasons - to extend the life of the roof, to doubly seal anything I add like solar, to mitigate rain noise, and to make it the most reflective possible (white? Is there silver?) color to reflect heat.

I've heard it's pretty heavy, but haven't done the math.

I'm interested in hearing any downsides also

I would go with something like Henry's Elastomeric Roof Coatings that are solar reflective. They are designed for roofs to seal as well as to reflect sun and heat. I haven't used it yet, but lots of people swear that it really helps.

My other fear... What if it doesn't stuck to aluminum... I'll have a mess.

I put 4 coats on a 6x12 V-nose and only used about ⅓ of container. After the 1st coat, I could already tell the difference - before, couldn't touch the roof due to heat; after the 1st coat, I could feel the coolness of the paint on the roof. The directions state at least 2 coats, perpendicular to one another......

Did it stick ok to the aluminum? Doesn't scratch easily? Edges ok?

I don't think truck bed liner will adhere to plastic. So before the installation of the liner, you'd have to remove roof vents, A/C units, vents, etc. and reinstall and seal them after the liner has cured.

When you look in the usage section they show a very thick and an even thicker
application. For the 5 gallon pails they show an application thickness that is much
more CT friendly, Of course, any application will only adhere as well as the surface
is prepped. See pg. 2.

Lol I understand what you are saying. I posted the reply before I searched for what was in stock at my homedepot. I'm gonna go with the henry stuff.

Lessons (no particular order)
* Instead of dipping your roller into the bucket, take a smaller bucket and scoop onto roof, then spread it out.
* cleans up with water nicely (I didn't use painter's tape, just a wet rag to clean edges)
* it says allow for a day before putting second coat on.......depending upon humidity, wait AT LEAST 24 HOURS
* THICK is OK
* Damp surface is OK (actually encouraged) for application

Thanks for those tips. I've been researching and researching and have decided on the Enviro-White myself once I get all my roof bits figured out - the solar and whatnot.

One more question about the wiping and not taping. What keeps it only on the roof when you get out to the edge of the trailer? Do you let it run over the side and then go around and wipe it up? Or does it pretty much stay on the horizontal as you roll out past the edge without dripping down on the vertical?

How much did you use? I don't want a 5 gal, but not sure I can get away with 1 gal on a 6x12 deep V

I could only find the 5 gallon.......used about ⅓ of it - 4 coats on a 6x12 V-nose, flat roof. it's pretty thick, don't thin it. Water clean-up
