Newbie, with cost of conversion ?'s

Hi all, I'm wanting to do a toy hauler/living quarters conversion off of a car hauler.I've been pricing factory built ones & they are too rich for my blood. I have come across some "job site" trailers at a fairly reasonable price and have a couple questions.

1. The trailers already have insulation, air con and a 50 amp110v ac electrical system. What would be the most cost effective way to get a 12 dc set up going. Could I just plug in a "smart" charger to charge the batteries? I would like to add solar later, maybe. Would there be any reason to use a RV type converter or could I just build the 12v system seperate from the existing 110vac system except for having a 12v charger plugged into the 110vac.

2. Trailer have no water or holding tanks. I think I would need regular RV type set up to keep the wife happy.

3. Finally, they have no propane system. I think this would be pretty straight forward. We don't want a cooktop inside. I think I would use a convection/microwave & a outdoor cooktop. I would need propane for a fridge, unless there is a slick way around that.

Well, there is my list of concerns. I can get one of these trailers for about 2/3rds of a comparable one with everything already installed. It comes down to about 7k difference. Any ideas what I'd have in doing the needed work on the job trailer? I was thinking 2-3k. Is this realistic?

Sorry for the mega post on my first one.

Murf2, Howdy;

Welcome, ... to my parlor ...... :twisted:

Wander around the older postings, cruise through the headings
at the top of the forum Board Index ... lots of ways to do things,
Lots of different things to use... all will determine the cost of
your CT. Some go for basics, other go all out flash and glitter, it's
up to you as to how you choose to go about it and therefore what
the costs will be. Then there is your mate, that can also determine
what the expenses may or may not be. To many factors to quantify...
Good luck, keep us in the loop. Pix help.

Thanks all. I've nosed around here and picked up a lot of tips. I guess I need to make a list of materials and price it out.
