Hi Everyone, I'm in the process of ordering up a trailer from Trailer Showroom and I've got a few questions:

1. Is it okay to use pressure treated wood for the floor in a camper conversion? It seems like a good idea after seeing so many travel trailers with rotten floors.
2. What about tongue length? They offer a longer tongue. Is there an advantage to that type of option.

Me, I would shy away from PT wood if it is used inside because of the chemical treatment they get. It may be totally safe, but I would take the direction of caution. Maybe others with more expert knowledge disperse these thoughts. I also wonder if my concern goes away if you cover the PT floor with a tight floor covering?

If the total lenght of the rig with an extended tongue is not a storage issue or something like that, I would consider it. If you read here posts about short tonque lengths, I think you will find the posters wish they had more length for propane tanks and other storage.

I can't speak from experience but I have been planning a CT conversion for some time.

I would not use PT plywood or PT wood for the floor for the reasons Bob stated. You don't want to breath or be in contact with that stuff. Sealing the underside of the deck should be sufficient. I do plan on an extended tongue length for the CT trailer for propane, battery, weight distribution hitch brackets, etc.

Please document your experience with Trailer Showroom. I have been considering them as they have two plants within 150 miles of where I live.

You'll be surprised how chemicals/smells concentrate in an insulated CT. Definitely not worth the risk.

For the realistic length of time you'll use your first trailer, just painting the floor plywood will be plenty of protection.

After 8 camping trips in my 7x16, I'm selling it for another 7x16 that better fits our needs. I want V-Nose, ceiling ac, not a 2004 well-used trailer, etc. The missus has seen us boys use it enough to justify buying another.

I see plenty of other people on the forum also moving to a 2nd trailer after learning what they want.

A long time ago, a guy posted about just getting out in his. He didn't fancy it up. Seemed smart to me, and I'm glad I bought a $2000 used trailer and started going out right away without spending much time or money in it.

Don't invest crazy in the first one, just get out in it a lot. Buy something that can resell easily. In my area, that means a rear ramp to sell to lawn guys. Just my opinion.
