Hi. This is my first post and I figured I'd share what I just bought and where I want to take it I have read so many posts on here as I was searching for what I wanted and what I want to build. I just bought This 6x10 today. The original owners bought it with dealer installed windows, roof AC, electrical, and insulation.

Not the best pictures but that is it.

First priorities would be a fold down bed, a counter top in the front with a sink perhaps, and then a rv style latch for the side door. Eventually I want to add a 12 volt system and solar.

Look forward to seeing what you do with it!

I have an old 6x10 that I am going to start on this summer as well.

I'm excited. I'm not much of a carpenter/builder but I have a friend who is going to help me out. I'm hoping to have some kind of flooring down in the next couple of weeks and start on the fold down bed. I'm trying to get at least the flooring/bed/countertop/door latch/12 volt system in place before I go to Colorado in August.

I'm starting to think that, at least initially, I may scale back my grand ideas. When I started adding up what all of this wood for bed, cabinets, countertop, etc was going to add I got a lot heavier than I wanted before gear. I think I'm going to enjoy it with a cot and nonpermanent camping furniture for a while and see what is really important for me. The basics are already here. Man this is a good site. I've read so much good info already. I just hope my ideas don't weigh too much lol. My tow vehicle is a 2014 Nissan Frontier King Cab V6. It's rated at like 5500 pounds but I don't still don't want a ton of weight back there.

You're on the right track I think. Its easier to scale back at first, and build as you go, than the other way around. Keep it light, while maintaining comfort features. After even a few nights, you'll have a much clearer understanding of your own priorities. (cooking, sleeping, plumbing, floor, temp control, light, power, layout, etc.) I think storage should come last, as its easy to have portable storage first (boxes come in all sizes and shapes!) Your wall space is limited, so you'll want to use it wisely, preferably the first time.

You're already half-way there with insulation, A/C, windows, and electrical! Keep us posted with pictures.

Don't worry about building things in. Camp and use it, then add those things you feel you really need. Play with the space.

I used a hammock in my 6x12 for the first couple of months before I built anything in.

Great advice. I think I'm going to throw my cot with mattress pad in there and my camping gear and just start using it. I'll figure out the things I really need/want over time.

It's tough to sit here and look at all of these great looking trailers people have built. Give's me way too many ideas! lol

Thanks!
