Update... never did receive the batteries and AliExpress refunded 100% of the money.

Excellent result, only waste of time and disappointment

PayPal started off with a horrible rep, I was very wary for years

but I have to say they've turned out to be a solid mainstream choice now compared to the dozens of dodgier options coming out in the past decade.

Same with eBay for me, I've won every dispute as a buyer

Breaking out the 7x18 CTC for a local trip with the wife. Hard to believe I've had this for almost 6 years.

I am installing a new Andersen WDH with anti-sway before I leave. Anxious to see if it works better than the old HaulMaster WDH with anti-sway. I never did like the way it worked and adjusted.

In any case, need to do a little cleaning and etc. before we leave Friday. Taking the eBikes for some exploring.

Okay, got the Andersen hitch installed and adjusted, we'll see how it tows tomorrow. Already like the fact that I can back this up without having to remove any antisway bars.

Also disconnects very simply.

I guess e-bikes count as toys? In any case, all loaded up. Leaving for 4 days of camping tomorrow.

Been a while since I had the 7x18 out of the yard.

Pulled at speed on Interstate and Turnpike yesterday. Definitely not bouncing on overpass transitions and sway seems minimal ( if at all) when large vehicles approach. Noticeable improvement. Did not have any serious cross winds to contend with, however. Need a little more road time to make better comparisons , but so far, very pleased.

flboy wrote:I was in Home Depot last night picking up some screws and etc. for today and they had restocked their Exide 31MDC batteries. With coupons and rebates, I got this for $80.00 so I decided to get it anyhow since I am building the dinette this weekend and I need to build the extra battery under it. So I now have 345 Amp Hours. Definitely enough for boon-docking and running a few things.

Would you believe I am running the AC off the batteries right now. It draws about 47 Amp running and Solar is replacing about 10A as I go with the sun low in the Sky at 9:09AM. I can see where I will be able to pull off in a rest stop on a sunny day and crank up the AC and have lunch and take a nap without any generator. This is why I built in the smaller AC that cools the trailer fine and uses lower power. I love it... I don't think I have enough battery capacity to run overnight.. but definitely on a sunny afternoon... when it is the hottest..

Old post of yours Don, curious if you have stayed with the 3 Exide 31MDC batteries from Home Depot? if so, how are they working for you? I have 2 Renogy 100 solar panels and wonder if these would be a good mix, for my conversion?

Those batteries were not real good..only lasted a year and began to weaken. They are not true heavy duty deep cycle batteries in the sense Golf cart batteries are. That is my experience in any case.

If you cannot get LiFePo4 batteries, I'd recommend you look at 6v golf cart SLA batteries. I replaced the 3 Excide 12vdc with 4 6v Duracell Deep Cycle Golf card batteries. The Golf cars batteries have been performing very well for over 3 years now.

This is what I have. Got them from SAMs in December 2018. They are the 215aH version. I have 4 of them in a 12v configuration for 430aH with 215aH which is useable at the 50% discharge limits.

Don,
Thanks for the report on the Anderson WDH. I have another brand - can’t recall the name - but the receiver part weighs almost 80 pounds itself. While I can back with bars installed, it is a PITA to hook everything up. I’ve been eyeing the Anderson for years.

Been a year since I used the 7x18 Vnose. . Been using the 6x12 mostly. I am going on the road for month in July to see my son in Nebraska. I think the 7x18 will be much more comfortable to live in and since I am not going offroad... May as well take it.

I do have to go through all the systems and make sure they are up to the task. I will move my 510aH of LiFePo4 batteries in my 6x12 over to my 7x18. The 4 Golf Car batteries I have in there are almost 5 years old now. I ran the AC off them some today and voltage was sagging to less than 12vdc after 15 minutes. They have seen thier better days.

No reason not to share the LiFePo4 batteries since I cannot use both campers at the same time. Also will be dropping over 150lbs and have twice the capacity.
