New trailer, new thread...

Before I even really got started with my 6x14, I discovered it wasn't going to be enough trailer, not just size, but gvwr as well. Just ordered its replacement today. I have a 7x16 CargoMate coming. Ordered with the curbside door moved back to just in front of the axles, 6 inches extra height, rear stabilizers, 30x30 sliding window over street side axles, 110 package (includes 30 amp service, two interior outlets, one exterior outlet, two four foot fluorescent light fixtures and finished ceiling), wired and braced for rooftop AC, two roof vents, RV latch, ramp and bulldog coupler.

Plan to insulate myself using the rigid foam as I discovered with my last trailer the factory "insulation" is about 1/2 inch of styrofoam. Not going to plumb this one. Primary purpose will be hauling and storing two four wheelers and a bunch of hunting gear as well as providing a place to sleep at the leases. Planning to add solar on a separate system from the 110 for LED lighting and odds and ends so I don't have to use the generator unless it's hot enough for AC. Thinking I will put a loft style bed forward and a Murphy style bed curb side. Looking to coat the floor with bed liner add a few shelves and call it done.

No progress yet, other than getting the four wheelers and hunting gear out of the garage (happy wife...). I am in the "planning" phase and probably won't get anything significant done until Labor Day weekend. I want to insulate and run my 12V stuff at the same time. I decided since it was already wired and set up for 110 that it will probably be easier to just run two separate electrical systems, one 12v off of solar/deep cycle and one 110 off of a generator (opinions welcome!). I have an amazon cart full with a windy nation 100 watt solar kit, blue seas 12 circuit fuse block, some recessed LED lights and other goodies. Spent tonight pricing insulation and 12 gauge wiring at Lowes. Now I am trying to figure out how I am going to do the full size "murphy" bed on the street side and frame in the bunk/shelving in the v nose.....

You can run some of your 110vac devices off the battery with an inverter. That is nice for a small microwave, tv, or etc. when you are boondocking and don't want to run the generator all the time. You can keep what you have separate and just install the inverter and plug directly into it. Like everything, it just depends on your wants and needs are.

If you do plan on running the generator alot, honestly, I'd skip the solar power and just get a charger/converter to run your 12vdc system and keep the battery topped off.

In my situation, I went all Solar and plan to run the generator only for the Airconditioner when needed and if weather is poor and solar can't keep up.

This is pretty much my plan, running a small inverter that I will plug the 30A service line into unless I want to run the air conditioner, in which case I will fire up the generator.
