I'm sure this has most likely been discussed before.
I searched around on here and couldn't find much info.
So,
What is everyone using to clean/polish the aluminum diamond plate that is used on the fronts of most CT's as rock or stone guards?
I have a 2005 and while I try to keep it clean and waxed the aluminum in the front and toe kicks on the doors is starting to look really dull.
I checked with a local outfit that services large trucks and they offered an acid of sorts. When I read the instructions I was concerned it was more of a cleaner than a polish.
The guy assured me it would "brighten" my aluminum. But at almost $50.00 per gal. I held off. So here I am asking advice on the forum.

I typically just use Vinegar and water to clean with. The vinegar is great at taking off any water stains and deposits. Then I just us the same Turtle or Future 2000 car wax I put on the sides.

If it's not clear coated I'd be tempted to try compound and a buffer. Many years ago I had some Mag Wheel polish that was like a big wad of cotton with some sort of naptha or something in it. You just pulled off a piece and rubbed the wheel. Hang on, I may still have it. OK... The hoarding finally pays off. I have had this close to 30 yrs? The last time I used it I was driving a '68 corvette convertible with the deep dish 5 slot mags. Anyways, it's called DuraGloss Aluminum polish. On the lid it says "870" then "Duragloss" Then "Aluminum Polish" Then "Makes Aluminum Shine Like Chrome". On the side, MFG.BY BROTHERS RESEARCH BURLINGTON NC 27216 PART No. 870 Do Not Use On Plated or Laquered Surfaces
They are calling it "felt". I remember it worked well, but I lived in the desert then and the car never really got dirty.
