Well, I've almost completely decided on going with a 8.5x16 for my build. My original thought was a 7x16 or a 7x18, but I figured the extra width would be nice, and since the wheel fenders would stick out that much anyway on a 7', I might as well go with the 8.5'. Here is my final question regarding this idea... If I could get by with having the wheel well under the queen bed and part of the floor space that would be ideal. I may be ok with the wheel well under the sofa, but don't know if it would end up there in the layout I'm planning. If anyone could provide some measurements for where the wheel well begins and where it ends, that would be great! The bed is a queen. The sofa is a futon from amazon. This layout doesn't include the v-nose, but that's where I will house a small bathroom. Let me know what you think.

My guess would be about 3' from the back and between 7.5 to 8' from the front.
Call some manufactures and ask about the dimensions. That will give a sure idea.

We decided on the 8.5 foot width for the same reason. We did have to buy extendable mirrors but that extra 16" by 16 feet will add up to some decent square footage. Make sure to get the extended tongue if you get the V-front. The extended tongue is nice on all trailers. Have fun.

For some reason 60/40 and 70/30 come to mind. The axle on my 6x12 is at 4ft from rear, overall length is 16'3", so 75/25.
Not sure how that applies to tandem axles. The trick is to incorporate the wheel well into something that you needed there anyway. Entertaiment center, or Gun Safe, or toolbox. etc.. They don't stick up very high, just enough to narrow that section and be a PITA.
