Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

Just a couple pictures from Halloween weekend...

Packed and ready to close up and hit the road.

Beautiful fall weather at Sebring let us open up the hatches.

Looking at what others have done/are doing with batteries, solar, electronics, propane, etc... I'm VERY low tech.
If I don't have hookups, it's back to flashlights and lanterns. Just like our old tent days, but with a comfortable, off the ground bed. ;)
I'm not going outside until the temperature is above my age.

The inside of your trailer is beautiful.

Learning about mobile off grid electrical systems has been a very rewarding experience for me. I have been studying electrical systems fairly intensely for a few years now and still have a long way to go. However, the ability to boondock with solar and DC power for me has been well worth the effort. Like trailers, it becomes a disease … always in a state of dis ease.

Sure. We don't have anything planned, but I'm sure we'll be out and about again after the holidays.

Finally put radials on the camper this morning. Goodyear Endurance. What a difference! The ride is much smoother and it feels like there's less drag.
Now I feel like we can start venturing a little further from home.
...If it wasn't for gas prices. :duh

We haven't been out since Halloween, but we have a quick trip planned for this weekend. Koreshan State Park in Estero Fl.
Not very far away, but it will get us out of the house for a few days.

We are recently beagle-less. Sadie gave us 16-1/2 great years.

That's her on the right, with her sister Bebe, who's been gone for several years.
I'm ready to go again, but Mama needs a break. They can be a handful and it usually falls on her while I'm busy doing other things.

Sorry to hear about Sadie. I really like beagles. They are great dogs.

I never can feel the difference in tires when I change them on the trailers. But the Endurance are good tires in any case. That is what I am running on my 7x18 tandem axle.

Have fun at Koreshan State Park. You'll have to let me know how you like that place.

My wife and I are headed over to Lake Griffin State Park near Leesburg for 4 days on Friday. Just going to relax and do some ebiking. Will have power and water so AC will be running 24/7 for sure. Only about 2 hours from home, so a close trip also.

Thanks, Don.
Going from egg shaped, Chinese balloons to a decent set of radials, you feel it. 8)

We've been to Koreshan a few times before. Our first trip with this camper was there. The sites are small and packed together, but with dense natural foliage separating them. There's an interesting historical settlement to check out, a small brackish river for kayaking, and a few walking trails.

Have a good weekend. We leave Saturday for three nights.

Karebru, Howdy;

Sorry to hear of your loss. Been since Dec. 2017 since Rascal passed,
still miss that furball. Don't wait to long before starting another. That
hole just grows.

Karebru, also sorry to hear about Sadie,
Got my first beagle when I was 6 yo. for a birthday present from an old man that lived just down away from us. He raised the rare breed of Blue Tick Beagles to hunt rabbits.
I was allowed to go down there and play with the puppies before they started their training. Were very easy to train. The one he gave me was a runt, mother had passed and another mother took and nursed the remaining pups.
But she wouldn't the runt. :(
I had learned how to help hand feed the pups if necessary by bottle. I took care of the runt till he was doing good on his own and finally started on food. John, gave him to me for my birthday that year. I named him, Blue boy, being he was a Blue Tick. Older, Blue boy, learned very quickly.
Just thought I'd share. :)
Stay safe, David

Thanks for the condolences and stories, guys.
Yeah, beagles are special... Hounds in general.
We went through a wolf/malamute mix (loyal bodyguard) and four greyhounds before downsizing to beagles. Hounds are bred to lead. Not follow. So there's an independent spirit that you have to be willing to accept. I personally like it.
Sadie, so far, has been the only dog that we've raised from a just-weaned pup. It was a magical experience, and so much work!
We do miss her.
Like I said. Mama needs a break. ...So don't tell her that I'm already talking to a breeder about what she might have available in a year or so. ;)

Pictures from our weekend.

Postby Karebru » Thu May 26, 2022 7:21 pm

The forecast said we'd be socked in all weekend, but we had reservations at Koreshan State Park in Estero, so we went anyway. It turned out hot, humid, and dry.

Campsite in the scrub.

Cool ficus tree, and some sabal palms.

Some old redneck wettin' a line in the Estero River...
Hey... I have a t-shirt just like that... and hat... :o

We did a beach day on Monday at another state park that doesn't have a campground.
Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, North Naples. IMO this is the beach to go to if you're in the Naples area.

Image

Image

On the way back to camp, we grabbed something to eat and stopped at Bonita Beach for sunset.
And the first hint at rain all weekend.

Image

Image

I imagine every beach, on every west coast around the world, has a daily ritual viewing of the sunset.
The rain finally did come as we were walking back from the showers on Monday night. It turned into one of our typical summer thunder-boomers.
Made it kinda messy packing up to leave in the morning. ;)
