Sway Control - Will this help?

I don't have a problem with my trailer swaying, as in being improperly balanced, etc. It tracks nicely behind our van at all speeds.

But when a truck, or even a car, passes us on a 4-lane hwy, the van gets "pushed aside" very slightly. Just enough that I have to turn the steering wheel left then right to keep in the lane. The push from the passing vehicle is v e r y slight, but it does require action on my part.

My wife drove the rig once and did not like the feeling, especially when large semis went by.

Is this something a sway control, like this https://www.etrailer.com/Weight-Distribution/Curt/17200.html would cure or eliminate? It's only 40 bucks US, considerably more in Cdn $ but I wonder if anyone here has experience with this.

Any advice is appreciated!

I had one on a TT (Travel Trailer), different brand but same function, I used
to live and travel in and the difference was very noticeable.

I am using two of those for the exact reason and crosswinds. They work well for me. One will work, but I am at the edge in weight limits for one, so I added another. The load balancing hitches will accomodate one or two sway bars.

You will still feel the draw when a big rig closes in, but I dont get the backlash from the trailer that I use to get.

The only negative IMHO is you need to disconnect them for backing up if you are going to turn at a sharp angle.

Other than that, it was all gain. Here are some pics of my setup.

If you happen to go by a Harbor Freight, the usually have them in the store for $29.99 made by Haul-Master. You need the Weight Distributing hitch as well which they also have there. Good luck!

I am not sure about the ones you showed in the link, but beware of the self threading screws that come with the Harbor Freight sway bars . The bars themselves are fine, but the screws that come with them to "self thread" the pilot holes you drill into the frame are soft junk and will break or etc.. Just take one of them down to your hardware store as a "go by" and get some high quality stainless self threading of a very close size. You will be glad you did. I learned that one via the school of hard knocks. That must be where they save a few bucks.
