Toyhauler bed solutions?

Postby ZColorado » Fri Apr 05, 2019 12:58 pm

7x18 with 6'7" interior height. Will be hauling an RZR
-I don't have enough ceiling space to raise it.
I would like to setup a 4" foam queen bed in and East-West configuration to maximize floor space. However I don't have the roof space to setup a murphy bed style unless I put the bed on the ground.

I'm struggling with how to build the bed mounts/hinges

Anybody have a better solution? or am I stuck with a North-South orientation?

My whole camper will be heavily inspired by 8Ball_99 on RZRforums, but I was wondering if anyone has a solution for East west sleeping.
I'm beginning to think this might be the most elegant solution to my problem, but it will be north-south

i use 4" of medium density foam with 1-1/2" of gel foam on top to give us a bed that's about 1" narrower than a queen size bed

I'm a cold sleeper so I have always been too cold on an air mattress.

What I did:

Bottom is now a queen 6 inch foldable memory foam and top is the 4 inch variation.

Or.....

Bed platform attached to garage door rails and hardware. Converts from bed to wall? May want winch/pulley system to assist lifting....

Thats an interesting idea! i'd almost want to run it both directions then it would be self leveling front to back, but probably more of a roller coaster when you don't want it to be.

Thats a great design. Has it been built yet?
It would be easy to add some gas shocks to make it easier.

Thank you

Oh yeah,
I really like that one, too. Looks like it could save some space as well. Fairly simple concept.
Nice.

Thank you.... I posted this to facebook as well and it has been met with almost nothing but extreme critics.

I've been wanting to try tig welding aluminium. Maybe this will be something I end up tig welding together. I think it will need a center leg unless I make it super thick, which i dont want to do.

Haha, saw the post on FB! A bunch of hard heads over there for sure. It's not a blueprint, just a concept that will need a few details worked out. I sketched it up for another discussion on here, I personally went with the design below. Whatever you build, be sure to post some pics. Looking forward to what you come up with.

Here's a link to several different single bed & bunk bed lifts. To me, the prices are pretty reasonable:

THIS is why it's so helpful to be a part of these communities. This is exactly what I am looking for and their price is SUPER reasonable.

THANK YOU!
