Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

First time posting. Picked up a Cargo Craft V-nose 7x12 cargo trailer couple of weeks ago and have been pondering how to mount a window AC (8000 btu). This is what I came up with. I say semi-stealth because while you can’t see the AC unit from the exterior, the portholes let people know outside something is up I suppose. Kind of strange looking on the exterior, but it works! I insulated the walls and ceiling with 1” Rmax foam board that’s R-6 rated, then finished the walls and ceiling with 9/16” shiplap in addition to the 3/8” plywood that was on the trailer, so it seems pretty well insulated.






Room in the V will be a utility area under the AC hopefully holding the 7 gallon water heater, small 10 gallon water tank and battery, but I worry about all that weight on one side. Opposite the AC/utility closet will be the indoor shower and nature’s head composting toilet. It’s tight, but I think it will all fit.

My wife insisted on a shower with hot and cold water and a decent toilet. It takes up lots of room, but I gotta do what I’m told.

The sleeping arrangements will be a futon we already had. I wanted something not permanently mounted so I can take it out when I need to use it for a cargo trailer again.

Looks like a good option. I have to laugh at stealth, the biggest give away is going to be the two 2500 generators buzzing away, or the power chord running across the sidewalk to where ever you are going to plug it in too.

In my neck of the woods there is no more need for stealth camping. So many people living in rigs there's no point. Some are in $200,000 Mercedes van conversions or Earth roamers. Others in buses, mini-vans, 30' trailers, etc... Some in $200 Astro vans. Our town has a 14 day rule so every spot on the streets where one can park and camp is filled up almost year round now.

Yeah the stealth thing is kind of a joke at this point for me with all the windows, portholes, exterior plugs, little Yamaha 2200 gen humming away, etc.

Got the trailer pretty much finished. Turned out pretty well.

That’s a nice looking trailer!

Looks comfy and inviting. A mosquito-proof screen room extension over the back door when it’s in the down position would make your living area even bigger and give you a “porch”.

Shademaker Awnings makes awnings of various widths that can have either a mosquito screen room or a weatherproof add a room on them. I ordered a 6’ bag awning and an add a room for my trailer but because of Covid I probably won’t get it for 4-6 weeks. They are made in USA in Chicago.

Thanks! We pulled it to my parent’s house last weekend and everything seemed to work well. We stayed in the trailer so we would not be inside their house due to covid concerns.

We were able to let down the rear ramp and fall asleep looking out at the stars. But then it got too warm so I closed it up and turned on the window unit. Then it got too cold.
