Happy New Year Hank. I think I just ran out of boxes to check off! Lol

Someday, I may weld up a generator mount above the propane tank on the tongue.. but that is not a priority since I have plenty of space for it in the bed of the truck..

Sorry Hank, I have one more... I meant to put this on a while back. I can latch the door from inside and then this new lock attachment will allow me to lock the bar open and I cannot be locked in by the bar. Just gives me another egress point. Always a good idea.

I got the diesel tank mounted and painted. Left a fuel level reveal strip. Will be okay I hope. A little concerned on robustness of the tank. Also, the screws are screwed into the just 40 mil. skin. Going to watch it. If it loosens up, I will have to put screws all the way through the wall with nuts on under the front cabinet since none of the mounting holes line up with a stud.

If you are going to have a heater in your camper that involves a combustible fuel and it will be burning while you sleep, always have a CO sensor near your sleeping spot. Just put this in due to diesel heater.

Realized there was no way to turn off the display on the Deisel Heater. Don't want that on 24/7 so I traced the wires to the display and interrupted the power to it with a switch that illuminates blue dot when on.

It is kinda crazy they do not turn off display when power is off..surely would reduce life of display.

Let the heater run for over 2 hours with the trailer buttoned up tight. It was a sauna in there for sure. Got to set temp real quick and then cycled to low setting which still puts out some heat.. In that mode, it did get about 5 degrees above set temp.. Going to need to regulate temperature by opening windows or etc.. Maybe not if it is extremely cold outside.

The CO sensor stayed on 0 the entire time. It did not register any CO so I guess that is good. You'd think in 468cu ft of volume it would register something if I had a CO problem.

In any case, happy with the heater so far. Hard to believe you can still get something like that for less than $150.00 US.

Our diesel heater will stratify viciously, causing hot heads and freezing feet. I use a small PC fan to blow the hot air down to the floor so it mixes and it's much more comfortable. You might be able to use your vent fan to do the same thing.

Darn.. things keep getting in the way of heading west. Wife diagnosed with COVID-19 today and I now have symptoms (fever and headache). PCR test won't be back on me for 48 hours. I probably won't get too sick. Last April when I had it, I only ran a fever for a few days and lost taste for a while. Hopefully just a short delay and I'll still make it out to RTR. I was going to leave Friday, but may have to delay a few days while I make sure my wife doesn't get Covid pneumonia again. Disappointed, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Got the 280aH cell replacements today. Just getting them top balanced then I will mate them up into the 12VDC battery bank. I have an extra 280aH cell now. May just hold on to it for a while in case I have any more issues.

Don we hope you and your wife recover quickly. My wife and I woke up last night coughing, nose running, aching but no temps. We just coughed and slept most of the day, really tired. Did not get covid tests. Phoned doc and he said sounds like Omicron Covid 19. Hate being sick. Heard this stuff would spread very fast and it seems like it is.

Hi Don,
I like your diesel heater installation, hard to beat the utility it provides for a very small investment. Do you think it would be a good idea to install some installation sleeving on the exhaust piping? I was thinking about something like this. https://www.mcmaster.com/thermal-insula ... nsulation/

I am very interested in how your lithium cells and BMS hold up. I will most likely be installing lithium batteries in my next CTC build. My biggest concern is safety. One of the things I do for my day job is working in a couple of battery shops. I don’t have enough experience with the large lithium cells available on the market now to make an educated guess on which to use. I figure I have at least six months before I need to make those decisions and I would appreciate any suggestions or knowledge you could provide.
