We will be making at least one trip to Durhamtown before the end of the year. Give me a shout if you want to meet up.

Any suggestions on a trailer dealer to use for getting a quote on a gooseneck cargo trailer? I have only received a quote from one salesman so far and the price he quoted is about 60% higher than it should be. It almost seems like they quoted an outrageous price because they don’t want to build a custom gooseneck.

Trailer prices have doubled in the last year or so. Example: $2000 now $4400.

The price increases the trailer manufacturers are demanding is not reasonable, even considering inflation and other factors. Horse trailers are much more expensive, however they are typically built much better than the most cargo trailers.

We have a company out in Utah called trails west. They build some amazing trailers tailed off an aluminum gooseneck horse trailer to be what ever you want.

Beautiful but $$$

Howdy All;

Chuckle, I was meaning the basic horse trailers, that can be modified entirely by the
owner. Depends upon how much of the work you wish to put into your trailer.

I had to remove the 280aH battery pack out of my 510aH bank leaving me just a 230aH bank now.

I noticed cell #1 drifting in the 280aH bank, so I pulled it for inspection. It was leaking electrolytes. Very strong smell when I opened it up.

In any case, the cell should be under warranty, so I have contacted the seller.. we'll see how they respond. I am expecting they'll send me a new 3.2V cell.. just may take a few months. In the meantime, I'll make do with 230aH. Not too hard to do.. 510aH was a bit of overkill.

I am expecting the 310aH bank I paid $140 for to arrive in the next month. If it is any good and not a rip off as is likely, I'll set that up and use it in the 6x12 until I get the warranty replacement.

Aaarrggh, that's my worst fear with buying these batteries. I hope they do right by you. I bought mine from China, it's guaranteed I'll never get warranty support.

Well, they are sending me a new battery from a US warehouse and paying for 50% plus shipping. . So real cheap, but not a totally free replacement; however, I will get it quickly. It is just one cell they paid half of and there was MOQ of 2 from US warehouse due to packaging. Price was a discounted price based on what I paid in Jan. 2021and their warranty concessions. Given current Ebay prices for a single Eve 3.2v 280aH cell, I can sell the extra cell for more that I paid for both and then I should break even at a minimum. I may hold on to the extra cell for a while to make sure I have no other issues, but looking back, the bad cell was acting up almost right away.. it just got to a point where the BMS protection intervened and I got concerned enough to investigate.

I did have to negotiate quite a bit to get anything. Once you accept the delivery and then use the batteries, they like to say you did it by overcharging and etc. The 5 year warranty is basically useless marketing tactic. They tried to say leaking is due to damage and since I didn't reject at receipt, I must have did it. It was hidden damage if that was the case. I made the case for hidden damage and less than 80% capacity.

As always, buying from a China seller is a risk, but I have done it enough successfully to be able to take a few losses. In this case, I think I will break even at a minimum assuming I can sell second cell on Ebay at going prices. At least not a total loss and I will recover the 280aH battery pack which was useless without the replacement cell.

I will be installing a 2KW Diesel heater in the CTC after Christmas. I have an idea how I will install it. Is going to take some fab... but should work in the space I have for it. The biggest problem I have to solve is how I can effectively mount the 10L tank up front on the tongue and run the fuel line to the rear almost 10Ft away when I'm only suppose to have the pump no more than a meter (~3ft 4In) from the fuel pump which needs to be about 20 inches from the furnace which will be in the back of the cabin. Will take some fuel line capacity adjustments on the intake side of the pump, I believe. Going to try it.

I absolutely do not want the tank inside the cabin nor on the side of the camper. Not many options with those constraints given there is not room to mount the heater in the nose.

As of now, I am planning to head towards Quartzsite, AZ around Jan 7. Will need some heat for the journey. I am going to go to the 2022 RTR and then move on from there.

Merry Christmas all!

Could you can up a roof mount of some type to allow gravity to help ?

Fill up would suck!

Or what about under side mount behind the wheel well and leaf spring hanger ?

Just ideas.

Thanks. Yes I think the roof would be a bit to hard to fill. I think I am going to get a 1/4 inch fuel petcock for the tank and run a larger diameter hose to the pump and reduce it down to the 2mm hose diameter the pump requires just about 6 inches from the pump. I'd think that would allow the pump not to strain with the extra length as if it were closer. That will be my first try before I do anything drastic.

I am considering the addition of a diesel heater in my cargo trailer. I am also against have diesel in my trailer because of the smell. I am considering getting the all in one unit and running it through a window like this guy did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAQehNzqAWY&t=509s at about the 5 minute mark. One other advantage is that it wouldn't have to be permanently mounted so that it could be left home in the summer time and maybe used other places, like my garage. Also the clicking noise from the pump will be outside, so I won't hear it as much.
