I don't think I like the setup outside. I can see issues with snow and rain, or just somebody grabbing it while I sleep. Also, not something you can use in a parking lot or rest stop while on the road.

The permanent mount is the way I will go. It really is not that big and the diesel tank, muffler and etc.. will be outside anyhow. I am building in a standoff pedestal on the floor and will have the fuel pump mounted inside that with a sound deadening liner. That should minimize the clicking given it will essentially be outside and muted by a cover.

Going to install this week. More to come.

They make fuel quick disconnects for marine fuel tanks. Maybe you could carry the fuel on the front of your trailer and then set the tank at the back of your trailer and connect it when you get to camp?

flboy, Howdy;

Re. the fuel tank.

I understand your concerns about having it inside but, did you see the one posted by dirtsailor?

also, here's some info from just 1 of several manufactures;

Okay, got the standoff mount built for the 2KW Deisel Heater. I need to drill a hole in bottom of the CTC for the intake and exhaust pipes, but this essentially how it will mount inside. I still need to add some sound deadening material and lid gasket before I mount to floor.

Will finish up later today or tomorrow. More to come.

Will be able to open up to check fuel pump and filter which I still need to mount. This will let me know I have fuel and prime. Will used 1/4 hose to fuel filter from tank which should negate the distance with much more available volume and flow for each pulse. That's really why they want the pump close to the tank. The pump will have limited suction and cannot meet with too much resistance.

This will be how it sets on floor. All closed and sealed up. Screws to floor by the flanges I built.

Here is where the heater will live. This is the spot I made for it during the build. After I know it all works, I'll build the bed extension over it. It will be easily removed as needed.

Now to connect it all up.

Pulled the CTC around to the driveway to install the heater on the floor and portal window on the right rear barn door. Also getting ready to leave for Arizona area late next week. While I am at it, adding a few small things I noted during my last road trip. Just some conveniences.

I added a charging station directly over my bed so I can reach up and grab my phone without having to get out of bed. I installed the wires in the wall during the build, just never got around to installing this before now.

Need to extend exhaust about 4 inches to side and then secure the intake. Work for tomorrow. Should finish up tomorrow. I have to make a trip to hardware store on the AM.

Thanks. I like the Thetford 365 alot. It's comfortable and flushes well. Will be honest however, I traveled with it for 3 months and used heavily. It will develop odor on hot days. With the mixing of both 1 an 2, gas is created and these toilets are not vented except when you flush. Bad smell then. Very bad.

I have since started using toilet bags inside toilet for #2 when I need to use it. Very easy and clean just to tie it off and throw away. Use is the same except the bag tie off. #1 is used many times a day as normal toilet.

This has eliminated any problem . #1 doesn't smell with the deodorant used and no off gas.

Still very glad I have this over the blackwater tank for how I use this camper.

Yeah, you definitely want to extend the exhaust out to the side of the trailer, it gets pretty hot. I bought a muffler for mine after I ran it the first time. Don't make the mistake I did and route the exhaust out under a window. :(

Thanks. I do have a muffler that came with the unit. Just need 4 inches off that to get pipe out the side of the CTC by an inch and to screw on a pipe hanger. The pipe will come out after the window.

I didn't like the diesel connector supplied with the tank (on right). It would draw from bottom and be more susceptible to debris. I bought a press in grommet type used for plastic tank repairs and I believe these are the type used on all engines with plastic tanks. The came in pairs with 2 extra grommets for $11.00 so I have a spares for repairs.

In any case, I hope it seals well or I just ruined the tank as the other connector will not fit now.

Also, outlet is a larger diameter to help with the distance issue I have.

Tank home. Assuming it works, I will paint it black with a vertical sight line taped off by the spout so I can see fuel level.

I left the gap behind the propane tank with this in mind when I welded up the mount . It fits well and I can still weld up a generator mount above it if I ever get around to it.

I like your new fuel line connector. I had no idea that you could just friction fit a connector into the hole of the tank, held in place by the rubber grommet, with no nut inside the tank. :thumbsup:

I got the heater working. Seems to prime fast, so I think the intake hose diameter is good. I am running through 13ft hose. It is a 3/16 inside diameter which looks to be over twice the inside diameter of rigid hose included. Also valve on tank did seal well.

It is cooking me out. I need to now figure out how to program in parameters. Other than priming it and starting it, I am clueless.

In any case, I cannot hear the fuel pump clicking unless the fan is almost off and it is faint. I am good with that.

Going to call it a day and button everything down tomorrow and learn how to program this controller.

It seems to draw less than 2 amps with fan on high, so with my battery bank, I should have no issues running continuously if needed.
