New Table Mount

Postby flboy » Tue Mar 01, 2022 1:22 pm

My solution for the round table. It was in the way alot during the day with the fixed post in the floor and it had to be removed for the bed to go down, so I bought a swivel top, but struggled for a place to mount it effectively. It could not mount on the adjacent wall due to a standoff needed to swivel. Was about to weld something up when I decided to take advantage of existing mounting hardware and post.

The nice thing for me is that I do not need to remove the table to deploy the bed, so now I have a great night stand and laptop table for watching movies in bed as well. The table can stay deployed all the time with no need to stow it when the bike is out. It just pushes out of the way and can be repositioned.

Cut some slots for the screws to pass through and still fit the bolt pattern on the supplied mounting plates.

Bed clears the post well in this configuration and Lex can walk under the table without the post in the way.

Does Lex know about this trip??? I assume there is a side car for your KTM, :lol:

Your going to have one unhappy dog as much as she hangs out with you. You will be lucky if she lets you back in the house. :lol:

foxontherun, Howdy;

Of course she'll let him back in.
It's the bit about allowing him to go back out afterwards :thinking: , :lol:

Put All-Terrain LT (Light Truck) Tires on my CTC

Postby flboy » Mon Mar 07, 2022 4:57 pm

Put some Falken All terrain LT235/75R15 load range E (116R) on the CTC. Could not find any ST all terrain tires and I was told Westlake, who made the only AT ST tire, is now out of business .

These are 10ply sidewalls and max load of 2750 a tire, so the new tires exceed the load Range D ST tire specifications that were stock.

In fact, I was picking up an RV in Elkhart to transport back to Florida last week ( a little side gig I picked up a few months ago), and the lot had a bunch of small Winnebago's with Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain LT tires on them. Apparently, Airstream and other OEM's are also putting ST tires on at the factory these days as well.

Discount Tire had no issues mounting them up and said they should actually have a better ride and specifications are exceeded for my 5200lb axle.. so NP.

I think they look great!

A lot of online debate about Light Truck tires on travel trailers. From all the banter, I concluded for myself that as long as the tires properly fit the wheel and meet or exceed specifications of stock tires (load, speed, sidewall ply which goes with load), they should work fine. The issues arise when people do not pay attention to specifications which are not "apples to apples with ST and LT tires" and also under or over inflate. I was most concerned with the sidewall construct, but these are 10 ply vs the 8 ply I had

We'll see how it tows in a few weeks. The Speed rating (R) significantly exceed the ST tires. I don't think I'll be going 106mph

flboy, Howdy;

Yea, lots to say about the + & - of both types of tires.
Plies are only along the outer circumference and do not apply to the sidewalls;
https://www.hogantire.com/Shop-For-Tires/Tire-Q-A/6
ST generally do best on trailers with multiple axles as their sidewalls are designed
for the torqueing when turning. Especially the tighter twists when backing into tight
campsites or storage locations.
LT's are great for what is considered 'normal' driving and on single axle applications, IMO.
Ply ratings have been replaced with the Load Rating (second Para. below);

https://www.tirebuyer.com/education/tire-ply-rating

Again, how anyone wishes to use them is up to them.

Very True. It would be nice to talk to the engineers signing off on those. Most of the people on the lots where I pick up are clueless, however. Honestly, I just think the technology and etc. has improved in the last few years, and if you match load and etc.. properly, no problems. I still have to see how it tows. Only issue would be sway if sidewalls are not stiff enough, but I suspect with this trailer only weighing about 3,600lb loaded and LR-E tires with 75 to 80lbs of air, in my situation with the single axle and light trailer, I'll be fine.

Hope so in any case, love the look and I think these will be better for offroad and wear factor on road.

Holding Tank Level Meter

Postby flboy » Sun Mar 13, 2022 3:00 pm

Never done!

Adding a graywater tank level meter.

A few times on the road, I had plenty of fresh-water, but wasn't sure where the gray water was at. Wasn't in a place where I could let it run onto the ground.

I'll mount the meter on a panel in the bathroom with an off switch when the switch arrives. Also going to put the graywater heating pad switch on the same panel.

Alternative Gray Water Vent

Postby flboy » Sun Mar 13, 2022 4:01 pm

I needed a graywater vent also to fix the slow drains and gurgling. To avoid another hole in the tank and a vent stack up through the ceiling, I got creative and drilled into the PVC going into the tank and installed a rubber grommet through which I ran some pex at angles necessary to flush up with floor as needed. From there I ran some half inch clear vinyl hose through the bottom of the trailer. Not worried about smells as graywater doesn't typically gas and mine usually smells like soapy shower water in any case.

It seems to work well. I get a whirlpool in the kitchen sink drain when I pull the plug. Never got that before!

All hooked up. One switch to turn on gage and the other for the holding tank heater.

Have a good time. That's your go-to, close to home location. Isn't it? One of my wife's clients recently asked her if we'd ever been there. I guess we'll have to put it on the list.
I'm not going outside until the temperature is above my age.
