That’s a really sharp trailer to use as the base of your build. It always baffles my mind that trailer companies put time into building quality products but do the bare minimum for the wiring. You would have been blowing fuses within a few months with the wire hanging through that hole like that. All it would have taken was a $0.15 grommet to do it right.

I hear you. This appears to be a well built quality trailer fit and finish wise. All the hidden wiring behind the walls is poorly done... but standard practice. This is my third conversion and three different builders. All the wiring was similar.

Grummy, I meant to ask. What is an Integrated Tongue? I am not familiar with the term.

"Integrated tongue".... The tongue is integrated in the same horizontal plane and same exact height as the trailers frame rails rather than an "A" frame welded UNDER the existing frame.

Many new owners do not notice that this even matters..... until they have to get a trailer in their driveway, and they find their tongue jack is too low... and even lower than it would have to be simply because the whole tongue is already 4" under the rest of the trailer.

Got the studs painted and the material for insulation and window frames. I need to get a sheet of 1/4 plywood to rip standoffs for the 3/4 inch Polypro Boards. Required to get the full R Value that I can in a 1in wall.

Going to get all the wires soldered up today and start insulation and windows tomorrow when I am fresh.

Got most of the wiring soldered and secured. A few more places, but this is a good view of a before and after. Everything is soldered. As it was, guaranteed to be a problem in a few years or sooner.

I'm sure you have it done by now but here is an idea for anyone who doesn't want to cut that wire and pull it out to install a grommet. Smearing a little silicone rubber around both sides works fairly well.

Yes, but the hole was almost too small for that and I needed to fix the connection anyhow. That does work however. I already had all the tools out, so I just put in grommets.

Ripped some 1/4 inch plywood into 1 inch x 24 inch strips and have the liquid nails setting up. The insulation needs to stand off the sides as much as possible. I also think it lets the sides breath. I do not seal up at bottom of frame so any moisture can drop and evaporate. I will tape up the inside part and make sure it is airtight to the floor and etc.. This is the tedious work for me, but the work that really needs careful attention as once the walls are sealed up... too late.

Getting the furring strips up after first round of insulation in the ceiling. I will be running all the wiring from the back to wherever it is going before I put the second round of insulation in the ceiling.

Probably will take a run at putting in the window bracing tomorrow before I do the side wall installation.

You can also add a small ziptie into the mix and that ziptie will help hold it in the silicone

Made the first cuts in my new trailer. This is always the most nerve wracking. Making surenI got measurements right and etc. Put a piece of metal behind the studs I was cutting to make sure I did not go through to the skin.




Still have to weld in the tubes and then cut out the skin, but the look to be correct. Whew!

Okay, got the windows framed up and welded. I will go ahead and finish sidewall insulation then get plywood back up inside so I can finish cutting hole for windows. The windows are secured by the trim ring so I need to have plywood up to secure them.
