I used the 1/8 inch Luan plywood. Painted it white.

Following you closely. Really curious to see the A/C unit in, and out, and every which way. I'm going to try to put something in my 6X12 that is as simple as possible. "Portable," but not necessarily one of the "portable" units that are less efficient than window units. You sound like you might just have that.

I can't get any more simple than to slide my window unit out the cargo door that I installed.

I don't want to cut any ribs to install a couple of windows to peek out.

What do you guys think about vertical windows ?

They will fit between the ribs, and slide vertically with screens on the bottom.

I wonder how a camera system would work, with one mounted on each side of trailer and hooked to a monitor. Anybody done this?

i put 2 door peep holes in the v of my 6x12 so that i could see if it’s a racoon or a bear rummaging around camp. i also have a wireless backup cam with infra red vision but i rarely use that

I'll take some pics this week with my little A/C slid in the cargo hatch.

I have 8 wifi camera's around my home and I'm not that impressed with them overall, I prefer wired camera's.

Rib spacing and seams in the outer skin determined everything when it came to tweaking my design as I went along.
I have a 14 x 21 vertical on each side towards the front, and think they work fine. It doesn't give a panoramic view but you can look out if you want to.
To us, camping is about BEING outside, anyway.
Having said that, I just ordered a pair of 14 x 16 verticals that I'm going to put towards the back, just to let a little more light in.
I'm not going outside until the temperature is above my age.

I'm just not in the mood right now to cut holes and install windows, so I bought three $2 peep holes and installed one in the door and one on each side of the trailer where the windows will go later. :D

Just received two 16x14 windows for my trailer... any advice on measuring, marking, cutting and the installation with be greatly appreciated. These do have the trim ring on the inside.

One thing I'd recommend if this is your first time... make a cutout template from cardboard and once you are satisfied the fit is right... use the template to transfer the cutting lines onto your trailer in the place the windows will go, then tape it off so the saw does not scrape the paint as you cut (assuming a jigsaw). It sounds , based on the size, that you will not be cutting any studs... so that makes it easier.... just make sure your template does not cover any studs, or you will have a surprise when you cut.

Measure a few times before you cut because recovery is hard if you make a hole too big.

I made a video when I put my windows in. Link to YouTube ==> https://youtu.be/R_TCqeIdL9Q There are some tips in there as well for cutting. Cut the corners last so you do not have a big piece of aluminum vibrating around as you are trying to cut the long spans.

Gulfcoast, Howdy;

Just look at the top subjects of this very forum. Second one is all about the window
install, and the questions folks have. Also includes the answers, even nifftier eh.

Well after all the worry, the windows were pretty easy to install. The vented propane heater and vent is done and all I like for now is the fantastic fan on the roof. My wiring is complete with two new Lithium 100AH batteries. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow.
