Teardropping with a sunset

Another two-nighter into the Pahsimeroi Valley of central Idaho. The sunset is looking west towards the smoke-slick (or plume) of the Pioneer Fire NE of Boise.

It was damn nice at 6500'. Just cool enough in the morning that required a jacket but the shorts were fine. 90º when we got back to camp at four after a good march up the trail. The fan kept the 'drop nap-able for the next hour.

That's a piece of pottery that Tim aka Noseoil gave us!

So it's just a pot that happens to be sitting perched atop a propane bottle, not screwed to it? Not some special smudge pot or incense burning? (Who knows what you natives get up to in the wilds of Idaho!!! )

Not "just a pot", it's a very lovely pot and a thoughtful gift.

The reason I asked was because the wife does pottery and if'n you all had come up with some new nifty gadget I might have to put her to the challenge! As it is she could turn out some decent dishes for TPCE, but I've been thinking I'd like to go with Melmac for its near indestructible qualities.

Tim mentioned he hadn't figured out how to manage a garbage bag in the galley. We had started using some U shaped hardwood pieces with magnets––on the end of the U–– that snap onto the hatch springs. (I always kept two or three in the back of the Tacoma to hold fishing rods when we're gearing up.) So I gave him one and within three minutes he'd given us the teardrop pot.

On this trip we used it as an appetizer cup for nuts.

That pottery looks like some of forum member Mary Van Dusen's work. She sells her teardrop related pottery at some of the Tearjerker camp gatherings. She does other beautiful, non-teardrop pieces as well.

...Beautiful country. I need to get up to that part of Idaho one of these years. The time for this year is just about up; and, with repairs for antelope damage, new tires needed on both the trailer and tow vehicle, and the two big trips I've already taken this summer, it'll have to wait for another year.
(The sad face icon is as close as I can get to a big sigh.)

I think you're on to something there. NoseOil aka Tim mentioned it was made by another teardropper and obtained at a gathering.

Sharon, you are correct! I didn't have any contact info from Mary, but thanks for posting the link. We had a pair of them in our kitchen over the sink for 2 years, while I worked on the build.

Glad Tony found a good use for his on the trip. They would also make good cups for Sake or your wine of choice!
