Friday the 13th / Extreme winter camping.

Postby Modstock » Sun Jan 15, 2023 5:32 pm

This weekend I decided to do some winter camping, more extreme than I usually do.
It was totally off grid and relying only on the wood stove for heat. Looking at the weather I was hoping to find a storm to camp under and boy did one hit last night.

Pic #1
Muddy road getting up there.

Other pics are what I woke up to this morning.
At first I thought it wasn't much snow but then I saw the drifts.

Getting back up to the main road went surprisingly well but then hit a big snowdrift shortly after.
Luckily a rancher was moving his cattle and returning home with his tracked utv pulled me through the deep stuff. I was able to bash through the rest.
Good time's .

Looks awesome, we love crazy weather camping and have been through some crazy but fun times! We camped once at a lake in Oklahoma and declined electricity, as the temp dropped the rangers came around and turned it on anyways. It dropped to below 20f with winds over 40mph. We camped in tents that night.

Those are the most memorable trips.

What an exciting life if you like that kind of excitement.
The only fun I'm getting right now is that I sold my two-wheel drive truck and looking for a 4X4 truck that I can afford.

We had a cold wet storm here at our cabin (home) yesterday. Wind was holler'n, and we could hear the ice pellets hitting the back wall. Shelly, Willow, and I sat around the fire and agreed it was good that we are Indoor Cats! 8) Think that's the only kind of Winter weather camping we want to do anymore. But glad you enjoy it and more power to you!

I know this is an old post, but I'm trying to get the "Sooner State Chapter going in "Tearjerkers web site".

Now that the weather is a nice *5 degrees you should give Sooner State Chapter a look and Please leave a comment.
