Second trip to France

Postby UK-Corlett » Tue Sep 02, 2008 9:16 am

Hi all

I have not posted for a while but I often look in on those who are curently building.

Truth is I have just been enjoying my tear. I have racked up 3000miles this year. We returned to France this August to get some sun and some wine.

Remember UK is an island and we first need to get over the water. I got this guy to lend me his boat for a day.

I guess its difficult to stay away from Paris, quick trip to the odd art gallery and generally soak up the atmosphere.

Image

We were invited to stay at this little place in the country, but if you have a tear to go back to nothing else will do

Image

Remember Monet and all the pictures of Lilly’s well there is a pond and its just as good as the paintings. Met a whole lot or Yanks here, a whole lot, must be on the things to see before I die because most looked like they would soon.

Image

The best bit of France is still the food. Please could you leave McDonalds on your side of the pond because food like this is on the decline.

Image

For the petrol heads out there this monument is in the middle of Le Mans and is dedicated to Derek Bell. Who won the Le Mans 24hr 5 times I think.

Image

I think my wife just likes playing at house. That’s my dinner in the pot by the way. It was a very strange dried sausage with shallots, tomatoes and wine.

Image

And finally the photo you actually want to see, the rig. 1500 miles round trip averaged 30mpg(uk) that’s 25mpg(us). And scrubbed the tires on the TD but that’s for a post on the general page.

Image

I have said this before but its worth repeating it. Thanks; for without this Forum I would not have the best way of getting about yet invented.

Hi Mary K

"Are there a lot of camp sites in France"

Asking if a French town has a campsite is like asking if a British town has a pub.

The shower block is usually clean, with great hot showers with some kind of pot washing and simple laundry. Town owned and run sites (Camping Municipal) are quite, well run and cheap. 5 nights at one cost me 36euro, while one 8 miles out of Paris cost 28euro per night.

Privatly run sites can be very elaborate, with swimming pools shops, tenis courts etc.

Clive I still love those taillights, I had almost 2,000 miles on mine before I finished it. ( Job change Salt Lake city to Phoenix and back to Salt lake. How much did he charge you to use his boat, bet it was more than a 6er of Bud.. Jim G

Clive, wonderful album. Interesting to find out there are so many camping sites in France.

It's amazing to see a street corner labeled '10 century'..... magical ...

We would much rather have your lunch than McDonalds!!!!!!!!
