Labor Day sharks

Postby Sonetpro » Tue Sep 02, 2008 10:30 am

We went fishing at High Island Saturday. We heard the Bull Red's were moving in and had visions of last labor day. Last year there were 18 of us and we caught 210 bull reds over 40"
This year it was sharks. My buddie caught 1 bull and the rest of us caught sharks. At least I leadered my biggest to date. 6 1/2'

A few pic's

Wish I had the Guts to fish for sharks. The way it is now I can't even handle Catfish.

Boy, after working so hard to land those fish, I wouldn't have the strength to row back to shore. Nice catch.

Thanks. There is no better exercise for sure. You use every muscle in your body. I paddle an averave of 6-10 miles per trip. I caught a 6 1/2 'to 7' that day and he pulled me 2 miles out before I cut him loose. My poor pardner couldn't keep up with me I was going so fast.

I was watching some men going after catfish with their bare hands. Don't think I could do that either. They come up with some really big ones. They have some 18" fish here and that to me isn't even worth going after when I can go to Alaska and bring home the big King and Halabut(spelling)

I had that same problem...grew up catching sunfish and bullheads in southern MN, then spent a couple of summers in AK with my Grandpa. Even watching those 30-lb salmon SWIM PAST my lure was better'n bullheads

Are you referring to "guts" as in "bravery", or "guts" as in "bait"?
