Teardrop Camping in Erie, PA.

by Sam I am
My wife, Sonnia and I went on a short camping trip to Erie, PA this week. We took the tear, towing it with our 1996 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The 4 cyl. engine was plenty of power for towing the 700 lb. tear. The only time I could feel it back there was when we were bucking a 20 mph headwind on I-79, and on a few steep hills.
We camped at Sara's Campground in Erie. It is right on the beach, located only about 1/4 mile from the entrance to Presque Isle State Park. We were only about 100 feet from the lake - nice!
The weather was sunny but cool on Wednesday, and downright cold (about 50 deg.) that night!
We hooked up to 110 volt power at the camp site, and used an electric heater to keep toasty warm!
We put the top down and cruised around the park and stopped at a beach there (they have about 15 beaches!). We showed the tear to a couple of admirers at the campground, and a construction flagger gave us a thumbs up along the road.
We had a good time, and were very comfy in the tear. We like the beaches at Erie better than ocean beaches. There's no salt, no tides, no sharks or jellyfish, and it's not nearly as crowded or commerciallized. Sitting outside the tear watching the sunset over Lake Erie was worth the cost of the trip! I added a small photo album to my Yahoo photos. You can use the link below to see them. I know you all love da pics!

It sounds like you had a great trip. I am not too far from that area. I may have to take a trip up there. It looks very nice.
