Niagra Falls -short trip

If ya been here these will most likely bore you, if not they may be of some interest.
Left Sunday afternoon after the wife got home from work for Niagra Falls, had to make a short stop at the nieces graduation party for some food. Might as well get a free meal on the way!!
Got on the road about 6PM, later than I had hoped but oh well!
Got to the KOA in Lewistown, NY about 9:30, nice place, clean, neat and quiet. I'm not particularly fond of KOA but it was there and had the best price, we stayed in a tent site which didn't make the guy particularly happy but the website let me do it and I told it I had a trailer. He said it's not supposed to do that but it does sometimes. I really didn't care, he could have put me in another site, place was only about a third or less full.
He told me just to pick a spot and this is where we ended up.

Not a bad spot really.
Monday we went on the prowl. Wife wanted to see everything but first things first, straight to the big water!

For the adventurous among you we have this little honey of a ride

Image

Image

We didn't go on it, not even sure where you got on but they claim in all the years it's been there they've never had a problem with it. I figured I'd best just stay off it in that case!

Then on to The Maid of the Mist

American side, it's no wonder nobody's ever survived that fall!!

Image

For comparison, all the yellow spots are people.

Image

Canadian falls, it was raining hard down there!!!
My camera was soaked, wasn't sure if it would ever work again.

Image

Now a few from the Cave of the Winds

A rainbow in the rocks, pretty cool. I didn't know if this on would turn out or not. Wasn't more than 30' from me. Still didn't see that damn pot tho!!

Image

We did go to the Canadian side to see it too. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! Especially with a trailer. They, just like their American counter parts, felt that you should not be able to park anywhere close if you have anything other than a car. So we did drive down the road adjacent to the falls and saw them but we never even stopped the car and got out.

The stupid border crossing sucks too! Going over there is nothing clearly telling you what to do or where to go, you gotta kinda guess what they mean. They got a bunch of stop signs that say" 'STOP' proceed when clear", that's what I always do at a STOP sign.
Well that ain't what they mean!!! You're supposed to just sit there like a dummy till they come get you I guess??

Got lots more but I didn't want to bore everybody.

BTW- The wifes Explorer preformed admirably pulling the trailer for the first time. Pulled it without even knowing it was back there.
Nearly 190k miles on the clock and it got almost 18 mpg up and back, only about a half mile or less loss from normal averaging 70-75 mph.

Niagra falls, Canada is the better side of the falls. They keep it up and its beautiful. Sorry you couldn't park and walk around and take in the sights and business establishments. The US side is not kept up and very run down. I was embarassed for the US when I visited.
 The park services don't get the funding they need and you would think that at least in niagra, they'd do a little more.

You Really don't want to get into a discussion about which side of the falls is better, do you??

Great photos, Rich! I like your teardrop too. The light bar/spoiler on the rear is a really unique feature. Looks good!

I believe that spoiler is an unapproved part and we'll have to dock you 100 owner points.

Glad to see you got your tear back in one piece. Nice pictures too.

No discussion really. If you've been there recently the Canadian side rocks! Nice romantic honeymoon type environment.

I'll have to keep that in mind next time I decide to add something on. My fenders are legal tho, they fit the templates perfectly, no modifications I 'thought' were legal.

I can't argue that point cause all I saw was on the drive-by, but I will say they don't mark the trail to them for squat! When you come thru the border there is no indication how to get there. I used the buildings I saw from the other side as landmarks and headed in that direction until I saw signs pointing the way. I think the casinos are getting to be more important.
I suppose it's nothing more than one should expect with the way things are becoming commercialized these days.

Cool picts!

I have been to the falls many times, but will prob not be back. The Canada side was always the better view, and nicer places to visit. But all the building in the last 10-15 yrs have ruined the falls area. I remember being there in 97 walking the all the way from the falls down to the rainbow bridge with a small amount of mist blowing around. In 2002 we were back and the same trip would leave you soaking wet. I watched a story about it on TV, and they say that the new huge buildings are causeing the wind patterns to change and causing the mist to stay in the falls valley and blowing over the table rock area 24hrs a day and blacking the view of the falls.
