A bunch of guys on the fishing forum decided to have a Labor day bull red blowout weekend at High Island.
Well I guess the reds got the word cause there wasn't many of them around, But the sharks were.

My 6' and a free shower.

Awesome pics! Those are some FAT Bull Reds! We are going out to PINS next month. Hope some of those guys are out in the channel when we go. Of course, the year I didn't go they actually caught some of those.

Had to get a new rod/reel since my old one broke. It's not as heavy as you guys use, but I scored one of these at Academy for $89. It was mis-marked and it was supposed to be $125. I think they priced it at the reel's price instead of the combo price.

Looks to have been real exciting out there Steve . There may, I say again MAY, have been a time (in the far distant past) I'd have done something like that but I have no experience whatever with kayaking & I think I'll pass on the salt water kind . I do gots to say tho, you guys are 'effing nuttzzz'

Is there a special prize for anyone that catches a fish that's larger than his own boat? There's some guys getting close.....

Andrew, I hooked one last year that was as long or longer than my 12' boat. After he drug me 2.5 miles offshore(Texas sleigh ride) I decided I wasn't going to turn this guy and he wasn't going to run out of steam. I either need to cut the line or go to Cuba, I cut the line.
Usually after they go a 1/2 mile they get tired out. If they hang up and down they are done. You can see the 6' I caught wasn't done. He got really PO'ed when I tried to pull him up for a pic.

I don't fish but I LOVE the ocean. The kayaks sure look like a lot of fun! I've played with the idea of trying to build one, but I already have enough hobbies to make time for!!

We don't keep them. We only want them to pose for a pic and then they are revived and released. The red's are the breeders 30-40 years old. Any kayaker I fish with would not dream of killing any of these beautiful animals. It is just a challenging sport.
And yes it is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. And it keeps you in shape too. I usually paddle 5-10 miles on a fishing trip.
