We went to the beach for the first beach trip of the year. I had visions of big fish and great pic's but it wasn't to be. The surf stayed high all weekend so I never got to fish. But we made the best of it and practiced surfing the yaks in big surf. We had a blast.

How hot was it on the beach? Georgetown Lake had a great breeze but it was hot. I'm not sure I would have liked it with out the a/c. It was not as humid as Houston but just as hot. Some nice tree to camp under would have been nice. The group we went with did all the cooking - never had to wash a dish or even cook! And they did 3 meals for $7 a person.

The official temp was 94, but with a 30 mph sea breeze coming off the gulf it was much cooler on the beach. At night with the breeze coming in one window and out the other it was downright cool. I had to shut the window facing the water to 1/4 open cause it was cold in the tear.

Thats my daughter tearing it up in the lime green Mini X, a fellow fisherman let her use it and she was quite the hot dog in that 9' yak.
She reminded me that her B-day is a couple of weeks away.

I have been fishing in rougher water. But with 4 second sets it was just too rough this weekend.

Those are really cool pics, looks like you had a great time. You know, you could really take the look "old school" if your TV was an old "Woodie" or maybe even a van from the '70s. 8)

That looks like a Awesome trip even if you didn't get to fish.. I spend a lot of time on the coast over here in Louisiana and it seams to me the wind has been blowing hard a little more frequent this year than others... Hope you get to fish your next time out...

Where did u go? If I knew u were coming I could have put u on some. Been all over the reds and some nice flounder. Surfs been blownout so staying in the backwater. Hit me up and we'll go get em. We can go chase trout with all the others if you want or the reds in skinny water.

We were at High Island near the dirty pelican pier. Couldn't hook any thing even on the long rods with bait yaked out 100 yds. Lots of bait in the surf but no fish.
I can't go for a few week's. Got a concert this weekend and Nascar races next weekwend. But I will be on the sand somewhere the 14th. Probally High Island or McFadden.
You coming to Matagorda in July? We always paddle out to the rig (2 1/2 miles) when we go there. Caught a few snapper there before.

Steve, one of these days I'm gonna actually drive down and spend a week or two on the beach. However, I not sure I'll ever be able to speak "Texan Fisherman" as fluently as you and Rick.

Just depends what we have going on. Would like to go, keep me informed. Gonna head out about 60 miles in a few hours.... snap season starts at midnight... lots of king, ling, AJ's, and dolphin coming in also.
