Another Mini Trip - Dialing it in.

Well, this is probably how I will do most of my camping for the forseeable future. If I do get the chance to go somewhere else, I will know what I need and don't need.

I took off late Thursday evening and drove up the Angeles Forest Hwy. I was looking for the Mt. Pacifico campground. I missed the turn in the dark and ended up staying at the Monte Cristo campground where I had stayed before. Just as well as I had forgotten my camera.

In the morning I asked the ranger where it was and found out the turn was much closer to my house than I had thought. So on the way home I decided to drive up and look it over. I hadn't planned on 6 miles of pretty rough road. So, an hour later I am at the summit Ele. 7093' and decided then to go home shower and repack for another night and come back.
I drove up about 3:00 and settled in for what looked like a thunderstorm. Dark skies, wind and a rumble in the distance. Looked like it was raining on the desert floor but nothing there.
The turn off is 12 miles from home; driving time about 15 minutes.
The campground is 6 miles from there; driving time 45 minutes. 10 MPH is too fast in some places.
Now my TD is not an off-road variety but she held up fine. Of course, everything inside was scrambled around but no real problems.
The campground is right on the Pacific Crest Trail with incredible views in every direction.

Set up camp and walked around a little, played with the dog, took some landscape & flower pictures, ate (that's what I really go for) and went to sleep around 8:00.

I got up a couple of times through the night it was cold and windy so I went right back to bed. Got up about 6:00 drank coffee, made breakfast, packed up and left. Was home about 10:00.
Here's the obligatory cast iron shot.

And the mystery flower. I think I knew what this was at one time.
