Zion and Grand Canyon

Postby Christina » Fri Aug 14, 2009 12:15 pm

It took me a while, but here are a few videos I have put together of the trip to Southern Utah and Northern Arizona we took in June 2009. Not a lot of video of the Sunflower, but I have some photos I need to post still. It was a little cool, but beautiful! :)

Beautiful 8) . We are planning a trip there soon. Any hints? Campground suggestions? Don't misses? Thanks!

WOW, great video of your travels. I will admit that I got all sweaty from watching though.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Sorry it took me a while to respond! :?

Zion can get crowded in the summer, so I suggest going in the Fall if you can. You know, the back part of Zion, around Colorado City and Kanab is really stunning, even if it is Warren Jeff's territory.

The North Rim lodge is really wonderful, take the hiking path from the lodge to the campground.

Visit the Coral Sands NP outside of Zion, really pretty and not very crowded. The whole area is great and the teardrop did the mountains and hills like a charm.

Have fun!

Great videos

I went to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in 2002. but way to the west to Toweep. Was tent camping and got a spot right on the rim. I could have tossed a rock from my tent and the next thing it would have hit was 2500+ feet down. No guard rails.

When i built my trailer in 2007 I built it with the road in there in mind. 60 miles of gravel, washboards, dirt and ruts. Just a few weeks ago I found the NP pamphlets of that spot and they did say "Trailers not recommended" Didn't say, Not allowed

I might get to make the trip again soon with the trailer, I have drug it over many miles of bad road, would like to add shocks to it but that would be the only thing before such a trip. But might not even do that. Check the wheel bearings, pick up another set and pack some grease. check nuts and bolts. And a few spare tires and I would not be to worried to go.

A few years ago National Geographic published a book called "The One hundred must see places" or something like that. The cover photo was taken about 50 yards from where I pitched my tent. Yes, it is a fantastic place.
