Took a little trip down the Lincoln Highway...

well part of it. Started out Saturday morning on a little trip east on Hwy 6. Our first stop was in Newton Iowa alongside a mural painted on the side of the building.
Who could resist a photo op like this! Back on the highway we go. No problems, but for some rain off and on. Hwy 6 is a great highway, much smoother than the Interstate. Our next stop was Belle Plaine, Iowa. We have arrived on the Lincoln Highway!
On we go. We are headed for Tama, Iowa to see the LH bridge. This is one of the scenic drives of Iowa, The Iowa River Valley Drive.
Now we do not see any of the big things, but we do see marked poles and part of some original Burma Shave signs. Colo is the next stop. Reed /Niland Corner, where The LH and Jefferson Highway meet. This was the best spot for us on the route, as the station, cafe and motel are restored. Tho they are not open for buisnes they are set-up for a self guided tour.
