Trip One

We packed up and set off for our first trip away in our new trailer.

We decided that the first trip should be somehwre reasonably close by and just for one night. Both good ideas!

We took the notebook along to list all the things we needed and had forgotten, despite my careful reading of all the advice given here on the forum.

Our pop up gazebo worked really well and the three walls were windproof and gave us excellent privacy from the one lowpoint of the trip... An older guy who was sited next to us at the campground and who spent 99% of his time staring at us. He would even walk around the back of our site and stare into the enclosed awning!

I know our teardrop is somewhat different, (we had a really neat couple come up and have a great look. They copied down the contat details for the builder too!) and I suppose that two guys camping together is a bit different too, but this is the 21st century and he was being exceptionally rude.

The stalker aside we had a great time. The only things we decided we needed were a second table, a washing up bucket/bowl and a small dustbin to catch the scraps and trash which seems to accumulate as soon as I start cooking.

The sleeping arrangements were ok too although Greg at 6 foot did need to sleep diagonally and this had me a bit squashed as we'd brought far too many pillows, blankets and duvets and the cabin was a bit crowded.

Our trailer has two vents each side a slotted chrome vent in front of the door and a oval vent behind the door and at the highest point of the roof. The resulting airflow was great as the heat we made rose and escaped out of the top side vents cool air was drawn into the lower chrome vents making a good fresh air circulation possible and stopping us from getting too hot. Does anyone else have low level air vents like this? I've seen doors with windows and roof vents with fans but not a double vent arrangement like we have.

Pack up took only 10 minutes and we made our way home very satisfied with both our trailer and the quick break.

Sounds like aside from the annoyance of the 'stalker', you had a great first outing!

One of the things I've always enjoyed about camping is the 'live and let live' attitude I've generally encountered, so sorry to hear you ran into a bad egg.

Thanks for including the pictures, you have a great looking camper. Now you're ready for a 4-day weekend, then later in the season, a cross-country trek! Enjoy it and keep us posted!

Al in Asheville

If you are gonna drag a teardrop around you might as well learn to just flag down the stalkers and invite them in for a close inspection of your little gem.
Some folk are just bashful but want to see the tiny trailer.

I know in 10 gatherings we have given well over 200 tours of our trailers. People are just plain old curious ! How did all that stuff come out of there and how do 2 adults sleep in that tiny little box!

AND A KITCHEN IN THE TRUNK (BOOT) to you all.

Ah, summer!

After a couple of short/over night trips, I was a little worried about camping for a whole week. Not any more. I'd like to camp for a month now.

You guys have a cool trailer. Get ready to show it to a lot of curious people.

Thanks everyone :)

We have planned a 4 day weekend for next week and I am really looking forward to being able to settle down and really relax for a bit. I think I might just leave the mobile phone at home too!

I'll post all the pics when we get back

Py0tr--you're a mad man!

Maybe take your phone with you in case you need help or to call someone to check to be sure you turned off the stove. Other than that, we usually turn our phones off and leave them in the glove box.

How did we ever survive before the cell phone :o

Sounds like a success

It looks like your first venture was pretty much a success. I've found that I need at least three days of camping to recoup from the initial set-up and finally get into the relaxing mode. :) Of course, lately I have been a tent camper until I get my tear finished. Hopefully this year. Tent camping is a lot more involved as far as set-up goes. Well, it is if you take everything but the kitchen sink, and sometimes even the kitchen sink.

I've found that at the beginning of each camping season it takes me at least a couple of trips to get into the set-up groove and then things tend to go a little smoother.

Nice pictures, thank you for sharing. It gives us snowbound campers something to look forward to. It will get warm, it will get warm, it will get warm!!! Sometimes I have to keep reminding myself that warmer weather will return someday.

Very cool.

Well, I was right. Warmer weather has finally arrived. We got a 70+ day yesterday and we are supposed to reach 80+ today. Rain will move in tomorrow but the rest looks promising. If this keeps up, I may have to go tent camping. Getting a lot done on my tear. Slowly but surely.
