I think you should get a kick out of this. I just received this photo from my uncle. This is my grandfathers teardrop. They traveled all the time. I used to sleep in this little puppy when I was a squeaker - when it was stored in the garage.

Warm River Idaho. Here is what is said about the place – Lonnie Allen has been the owner and operator of Three Rivers Ranch since 1987. Her great grandparents, Fred and Berta Lewies homesteaded and started the Warm River Inn and Rendezvous Dance Hall in the 1920's.

Did your grandfather build his own 'drop?

My uncle believes he bought it. Maybe someone out there might know who the manufacture might have been. Does anyone know the year of the auto - Studebaker I think - with the suicide doors.

I'm going out on a limb and say it's a 1940 Studebaker Commander/Champion

The teardrop looks like a 40's something Kit to me.

The Teardrop is a late 40's Kit.

My buddy Bill has the same trailer.

There's something with the fenders that could tell you the year from.

Besides being an absolute smokin' hot teardrop and TV - the story is very cool. I've said it before to Gage, Larry Shank and others that are able to reach back a generation or two and pull out family teardrop archives. It's a unique teardrop perspective that not many here have.

Thanks for sharing.

Wow, to see one still being used it is quite amazing. I presume that is an original.

To bad I was not old enough to know as a kid about teardrops. When my grandparents passed I would have scarfed up on that puppy. They always had it stored in the garage.

Yep, its original. And used quite a bit. Even though he owns about 20 to 25 other camp-able vintage trailers. Bill has his own "Americana Museum" that's not open to the Public.

If the American Pickers went to his place they would turn around and leave.

Everything, in all the buildings is so organized its disgusting.

Beautiful!!!
From what I have been told, Kit changed from Jeep rims to early Ford rims in 1948, so that they could use hubcaps. Of course that doesn't guarantee that in this case they did not update a '47. And only the Sportsman model had the paint scheme.
