I decided to make a run over to Manhattan, Kansas and check out the state park yesterday, always looking for a place to gather you know.

Some people don't see the beauty of the Flint Hills but I think it's awesome.

Found a couple of areas that fit my needs. A close restroom and shower house, shade, electric and water. These sites are numbered around 79 to 84.

This area is nearby. A couple of sites with great shade.

I didn't make it to the Rocky Ford area, I think there is nice camping there also. It's very close to the River Pond area so I'll check it out when I actually make it over there to camp.

Part of the park is under construction so the main entrance is closed. You have to go across the dam and enter the park from the East side. It is a Kansas State Park so you have to get a vehicle pass to get in and most of the sites are not reservable. Not a lot of people there for a Friday afternoon but then again it was in the mid 90's and windy.

After I left the park I decided to get something to eat. I was headed for Vista Drive in. www.VistaDriveIn.com It's an old burger place that was a big High School hangout, at least it was back in the 70's when I went to High School there. Along the way I saw La Fiesta in the Blue Hills Shopping Center so I stopped in there. They have some of the best Mexican food that I have ever had. The Heuvos Ranchero was great and even the rice and beans were really good.
