12 Night Trip in my 13' Scotty

Postby b.bodemer » Fri Jul 02, 2010 12:40 pm

Since I have a new puppy I thought it best to travel with the Scotty this trip vs. the teardrop.

Lots of fun combining camping with visiting family. For family visits it was very easy to back Scotty into driveway and set up.

My adventure started here: http://auntbarbandauntrose.blogspot.com ... -trip.html

Have a fun and safe summer everyone.......................

Barb
We recently acquired a 1960 13' Scotty. Ain't it grand?? Sorry for the bad English. They are fun. Have camped twice in it. Needs the "obligitory" skins removed and new wood sides done though. And when I do it will get a thicker roof and a Fantastic Vent fan and 12 volt wiring. I have polished it a little as well as a few other repairs. The 2 Scotty camping groups are quite active. Are you involved with them? I had no idea that there was such a following of the brand!?!

Dan,
I had a new roof put on by the guy in PA who the NSSO people suggest. He put a one piece roof on, thicker alum and then added an extra roof vent.

Tom also enlarged my baggage door so I can have ac on a slider.

I just add something each year. It's not vintage but it's another way to travel besides the td.

Have fun working on yours.........................and post some pics.

Barb looks like you had a fun trip. I noticed that Fish Creek was one of your stops along the way. Judging by the date on your blog we missed you at the Spring TearUp the ADK by just a couple of weeks. That was a nice gathering. I see you also came down through Connecticut. Too bad I didn't know you were coming through. It would have been nice to have met up with you. I think it's great that you keep a travel blog of your trips and visits with your nieces and nephews. They must get all excited when Auntie Barb is heading to town. Great idea doing the t-shirts for them.

Hi Theresa,
Several campers told me I just missed the td folks. June is quieter at Fish Creek. They even allow 4 weeks of camping. Our camping neighbors register two weeks under the wife's name, and then two weeks under the husband. They mentioned it is the only summer month they allow this.

The kids love their blog and it keeps them excited about furture trips. I'm taking the Scotty in August to meet my yongest sister's family. The a/c in the Scotty will really help during those hot August nights They are going for a few days at Dutch Wonderland with the kids. The three oldest will stay with me in the campground in the Scotty. The youngest, who's 20 months, will be back a local resort hotel with my sister and brother-in-law.
Each one of the kids will have a turn to sleep in the bunk. That's all they talk about. Plus they each pick out a movie at night to watch.

Should be another fun outing!

:applause: Thanks for sharing your pictures. It is so nice to see Aunt Barb sharing her summers with the children. So many families are too busy for that. I bet they share those times with their children...

Your Paddy is adorable. Does she have some Jack Russell in her?
