Addendum to this entry. It's now Aug 20th. We're in Buffalo Wyoming and the car is in the garage for a new fuel pump. Our ongoing update blog link is below. Lots of pictures and thoughts. Feel free to visit it and comment.

Well, I it's 3:30 am and I can't sleep. Today begins a multi week tour of much of the US.

Windrose (our little guy 6 wide) is now ready and Joyce and I will be leaving Southern Maine to travel to many national parks. We'll make a loop that goes from Maine to Seattle, Down to Southern CA up to Colorado and east from there. Then north back to Maine. I've got the umpteen travel and camping books available from AAA. We're winging it. No time limit although I expect to be gone close to two months. :woohoo:

We've renovated and planned this trip for a year. Here is a link to my blog. At the bottom of that page is a link to a dedicated blog that I will be updating on the trip from time to time. As of today it has some filler blog entries.

For those who think I've missed the South, Well I've got a daughter in So. Carolina that will be a winter destination someday. From there it will be a takeoff point to a southern tour. Gotta save some place to go right?

Have a safe journey on your National Park Loop trip. I watched a documentary a couple weeks ago showing the history of the National Park loop being created with Auto Club leading the way. It was a good piece on TV, and hope to make the same trek one day.

You have a great website. Thanks for that.

Looking at your map, I saw something missing, but it may be missing for a reason, such as distance or weather. The place that I would want to see that you seem to be missing is Lassen Volcanic National Park, in California. I'm thinking that you may have skirted around it because you will be in the area at the wrong time. It closes during snow season, which comes fairly early and stays late. As well as being beautiful, Lassen has every type of volcanic activity that can be found in the world and is interesting to see.

I hope you can keep in touch while you're on the road. If you get into trouble or have questions, there is probably somebody from the forum, nearby wherever you are, who can answer.

Wishing a safe and joyful trip!

I assume you'll go online at certain intervals during your journey.

Shoot me a PM when you think you might blow through southern CA and if I can meet up w/ you, I will!

Have a safe trip.

Well, we're retired and not rich. It's pretty much gas and public campsites (except for the car trouble in Buffalo Wyoming). Costs less than a week's cruise in the end. Never been on a cruise but I'd suppose so.

Thanks for the awesome pics! You had me going for just a minute in that one picture where you are kneeling in front of your shoes! It looks like you are having a wonderful experience.

PS. I didn't know there were cruise ships in Montana and Wyoming.
