Snow Fun in Utah

Postby mcspin50 » Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:11 pm

Too cold to finish the Lily Pad. It's hibernating until spring in its temporary shed...

...so we drove to Utah to enjoy the slopes at Powder Mountain (my favorite) and Snowbasin. No broken bones or wrenched knees (Yay!) and got to relax with all three sons and daughters-in-law.

The drive home was a bit treacherous at times, but made it home safely. Hope to finish the teardrop in spring so I can take it out west to go camping with them all.

Aw, c'mon Mark, when you live in snow and cold for months, you gotta try and make it fun. Otherwise, cabin fever sets in and you go crazy! :? :x  :?
All you have to do is dress properly for the weather conditions.
This went on last weekend in my town:

So sorry winters are so tough for you, Mark. For me, any time with my kids, no matter what time of year, is fun.
My oldest son used to compete in snowboarding competitions all over Minnesota (even made it to nationals in Telluride, CO), and we'd follow him around and watch him risk life and limb doing the thing that made him happiest. The other two boys picked up a love of snow sports just by watching their older brother, then they'd all bring along a friend and the big ol' conversion van would be packed with equipment and bodies for the next snowy destination. Lots of good winter memories for me. Guess it's all just in our own life experiences.
Take care,
Lil M.

 Slowcowboy, we've had a (pardon my French) s**tload of snow this year! But not as much as the East Coast...

:applause: Thanks for sharing the pictures! I love to "watch" snow stuff....I did Telemark skiing in Norway briefly and didn't mind it but I was a lot younger...

Glad you enjoyed the snow pics Miriam. There were quite a few Telemark skiers at both mountains. I love to watch them...their movements are so fluid... and would love to learn how to do it, but I don't think these ol' knees could take it.
