Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Well took the CampFX out for her maiden voyage, 60 miles up to the national park that is open year round for camping, pull in and none of the gates are open to the campsites.
Found some Federal government employees in the park and
Well normally there's 3 feet of snow at this time of year, so you can park over there and carry your gear in if you want....Doh, ya carry a trailer you moron.
So we pull out and start to head for home...Little bummed uot at this point, when the other half askes
What about that park where some of your customers camp all winter.
So bust out the smart phone and look it up on the internet. Call down and the super friendly girl that answers the phone.
Yah, we're open, actually we just opened another loop of sites cause the weather is so nice.

So change direction, add another 100 miles to the drive and got there about 3.30.

So this was right on our site, Canada geese and everything


Sites were awesome, could have parked about 10 TTT's and TV's on our site, and you couldn't see another camp site.

Was so warm we sat out untill about 10;30 then went in and played some Yahtzee
I won...lol

Lots of room, sort of with the bed made down to sit at table and play Yahtzee.



Now Chris got bored, hmmm
And pulled out some paint.

Yes those are shorts in Ontario in March...it was bout 24 celcius, man what beautiful winter camping weather

Check out was 2 pm, and we hung on the site till 1.59 ...lol

All packed and ready to go



Trailer didn't fall apart on side of the road or anything. Onboard Privy worked out great, used about half of our on-board water, figured a few things I half to do, like add outside taps for water, maybe one more cabinet , a window on other side for cross ventilation and Futons suck...lol

There were even people in tents at the park it was an awesome weekend

was mostly perfect weather in detroit, after the tornadoes passed on thursday night...
I tended to like wheatly in lemington, when I was crossing over there to onterio. and rondo. Wheatly is one hour door to door, from me.

What's the set-up you have in the back of your truck? Does it slide out?

Its a Bedslide, Will carry 1300 lbs fully extended, you do have to make some holes in the truck though.
Not cheap new, but I found this one used for $150, best investment for your knees, I work out of my truck so it carrys all my tools.
Theres a few different manufactures, Bedslide I think is the original

I was hoping it was some cool thing you made. Most truck accessories are pricey. I guess I could design one to handle a few hundred pounds, but I am having a hard time finding time to build my trailer, so I don't really need another project...
The salesmen where I work all drive pickups and this would be a great idea for them. They now use
a garden hoe to pull things to the back of the truck. It works ok, but a slide out is a great idea.

well, I just thought of 2x4 cross beams (4), front and back of the bed, and front and back of the wheel wells. That should keep that from sliding around in the bed while driving. Then long ways to the bed, 2x4's (3) attached to that for the wheels to run on. I'd put both sides up against the wheel wells and one down the middle for center support of the shelf and have at least one center line wheel. Have some guides coming down from the "drawer/shelf" to rub the sides of the long ways 2x4's, and keep the wheels on the boards. Put plumb vertical 2x2's from the ends of the cross 2x4's up to the bottom of the bed rim to hold down the front when the drawer was out. 1001 ways to build the drawer. Might be a while before I get mine in but that's a great idea. Otherwise, I was thinking I'd have to go with the crank belt thingies. Do it right you could even have a fold down piece, hinged to the surface of the tailgate. I suppose interlocking pieces of "C"'s made from angle iron would keep the shelf from flipping. (Hmmm... needs a diagram. maybe just a sketch.)

Put your vise and what not on the shelf and when you want to go play, just slide the one shelf out and slide in the other. I'd have to think of a shelf system for the garage and the shelf interchange.


hmmm. put the wheels (NOT castors) underneath, then plywood, then the bracing on top so it keeps things from sliding all over. angle iron instead of wood might be much lighter, and several runs to strengthen and compartmentize...

I was wondering about the storage in front of the wheel wells on the sides. if naught else, I can get on the shelf, and slide in and out. still saves crawling.
