I am planning to go to the IRG next year and thinking of hitting San Francisco, Oakland and Yosemite. Any suggestions on where to camp in teh Bay area? Thank you

I was just told Anthoney Chabot. And it does indeed look very nice.

Recommend against Candlestick RV park, it didn't work so well for us.

Golden Gate RV Park was meh too.

This is really uncharted territory for me. I want to leave the campsite for a day and see the sights come back camp overnight go see more sights camp and then leave the third day. really anxious about leaving the trailer at the campsite or am i over reacting. guess just make sure i have good locks

Both the campgrounds that I mentioned will work for what you want. They're just not homey. Adjust your expectations and you'll be fine.

We can recommend Big Basin Redwoods State Park, a bit far away from SF (70 miles) but an experience in itself and we can recommend Diamond O outside Yosemite.

We stayed at Samual Taylor state park, just north of Marin. Not a far drive to SF and a very nice park. We stayed there for three days on the way home from the IRG. Big Basin can be nice too but some of the campsites are right on top of each other.
There is also a campground in Half Moon Bay, just down the coast from SF but I do not remember the name. There are lots of choices.
