This was a favorite when I was a kid. About 40 minutes from home, so I can't comment on the camping. Day use cost us $9 for vehicle parking.

The park features a 1.5 mile hike down a gorge with plenty of good picture taking opportunities of water falls.

Of course, there are always opportunities to see other types of wildlife as well

Buttermilk Falls is just outside of Ithaca NY, a typical rural college town, home of both Cornell and Ithaca College. (I found a lot of Louis L'amour at a used book store there after the hike; just what are college kids reading these days!) There is also boating on Cayuga Lake (one of the Finger Lakes) and other nice hiking spots within an hour drive, including Watkins Glen and Taughannock Falls State Parks. (If we get to those, I'll post pictures.)
