Went back for World of Speed. This time it was just for fun, no work involved.
This car was driven from AZ and did 163mph, then driven home.
Most race cars are trailered.

Bombshell Betty. Hasn't seen the salt in 9yrs. Was cool to see it in person.

Also got to ride my custom trike on the salt. I've had this since I was 14. It's been hanging on my wall for 15yrs. It needed the brakes finished , I welded up the last few pieces and loaded it in the truck. It's 7ft long so I had to pull the wheels off and spring out of the front fork to get it to fit.

It's a 66 schwinn stingray with a 53 trike axle, extended 6 inches, 1950's 3 speed hub, custom handlbars and extended forks. Raked neck, Tractor seat pan.

Cool!

How the heck does Bombshell Betty cool her jets, er engine I mean? Not much for airflow coming in.

 Or does she not run long enough to overheat?

Alot of these guy's have separate cooling systems with electric pumps and tanks filled with water/ice.
Coolant isn't allowed in any class except the 130 street cars.
I'd like to do a more indepth video on what they do after a run.

Part 2

What were the temps out there? It looks like you could bake a spud on that salt.

Temps weren't that bad, 80's 90's. Could sleep at night with a cool breeze up on the mountain.
Way better than Speedweek. Upper 90's - 105. Hot stale air at night.

Not my video but shows that the saltflats are shrinking. What used to be 12 miles is now reduced down to 9 and big speeds 450+ may not be achievable anymore.
I missed seeing this car cause we left early due to the explosion.

The video didn't explain why it's shrinking. What's the scoop?

IIRC, there is a mineral extraction operation that is sucking the "life" out of the flats. Consuming the natural resource.
