Wire brush it with a small brass "toothbrush" is what I would do. Reseason with bacon grease.

Here is a spider skillet I found this Saturday !












I spent about 30 minutes dry sanding it them 30 minutes wet sanding it. Placed it on the gas
stove burner and got it white hot and rubbed on 2 coats of 100% bee's wax.

Dam it lookes good even if I do say so ! Special thanks to Jerry S for the wax tip !

Slow rust is bad for you better send it over to me j/k sand it with light sand paper or wire brush with brass or get a brass wire cup that go on wireless drill and use it
but after you use it make sure you get all the batter out of the cracks thats where a brass tooth brush come in good

Well a lesson was learned this weekend. While seasoning a new little dutch oven find last weekend I managed to use way to much of the bee's wax. While juggling the hot pan barehanded (DUH) I managed to get about 3 ounces of hot wax on the tile island top and the textured ceramic tile floor. It sets like concrete in about 2 minutes. A bit of scraping and scratching still left a mess in the grout lines and the texture lines. After studying it all week and picking at it it was getting to be a mess. I was talking to the ex and she asked if I still had the steam iron around. Her idea was to set the steam iron on high and place a dripping wet cotton rag over the hardened wax and steam iron it. I would like to report that it works great. The Heat loosened the wax and by sliding the rag around as you "ironed" the tiles the rag picked up the wax leaving no residue. So if you are messy like me simply iron away the spilled wax with a steam iron and an old tee shirt.
