Bought some CI today...

Postby WA » Wed Sep 16, 2009 9:29 pm

There is this 'shop' out in the county about 5 miles from my office that I have been meaning to stop in for months. Always in a hurry when I passed by. Had a few minutes today coming back from an appointment and ahead of the next one, so, I stopped.

Lots of skillets, mostly Lodge, some with three marks on the heat ring. A Griswold #8 DO and a couple of Wagner Sidney #8 skillets, plus a Wagner 'Junior' corn stick pan. Got the DO, 2 Wagner skillets and Wagner corn stick pan for $50. Did I get hosed?

Ya paid a fair price. It wasn't a steal like my $1.00 and $1.50 Lodge skillets at Goodwill but it was a fair price. You have a 3 generation guarantee not to wear out so if you amortize the expense it is a fantastic deal.

You done good. was your Griswold #8 DO a Tite top Baster or just a Tite Top duch oven.? Either one is worth about $50 to $65 with the tite top baster being worth more. #8 are very common pieces

Sorry Ironhead...I am new to this. You have asked a question that is important, but I don't have the knowledge to answer. The lid has concentric rings if that means anything.
