Do you have a Griswold lid for sale?

Postby WarPony » Sun Jan 24, 2010 9:46 am

My Grandma gave me an old #9 Griswold skillet yesterday but no lid. Does anyone have one they'd like to part with? I measured the diameter and it's about 11.5 inches across. The skillet works great, I just got through cooking a batch of fried potatoes for breakfast..... MMMMMMM

Jeff,
:o Here's a "make an offer" one:

But for a buck or two, I think I'd go down to the Goodwill and dig through their pan lids and find a glass one that fit.

Best wishes,

Prem

Jeff, do you have any pics of it? What's the number cast in the bottom of it? Griswold made cast iron, steel and glass covers for their skillets. If you post the number on the skillet, I might be able to figure out what lid it came with.

Hi Jeff,
I have a very nice Griswold No.9 skillet cover from c.1925. Large TM with a 1925 patent date and it's clean and ready to use with no cracks, warps or other problems. Also have a No.8 "Patent Appl'd For" Griswold cover that predates the patented No.9. $65 plus shipping for the No.9 which will fit any No.9 Griswold skillet from the slant TM to small TM and probably the earlier Erie skillets. These style of low skillet covers from Griswold were made in sizes 3, and 5-14. It makes quite an impressive set to have all the skillets and all the covers. Only problem is that doesn't leave a whole lot of room in a teardrop. Email or call me if interested. Steve 415-453-7790 SF area.

I might add that Griswold's skillet covers are much better than Lodges as is just about all of Griswold's iron as well as older Wagner and some other makes. Lodge makes quality iron cookware but it still can't compare with the old US stuff in the way it's finished off and it's not as light as most old iron cookware.
