was flea marketing again today. Found another chrome griswold. This one was a #6 just a size smaller than my current one. Price tag was $60..

Just used my new to me plated griswold, what a nice skillet! nothing stuck, browned up a bunch of hamburger..I like it better than the old faithful lodge or wagnerware that Ive had a for a few decades..

I'm new here but not to cast iron cookware. Both Griswold and Wagner and a few other early companies made plated iron cookware. Griswold nickel plated from c.1890 as did Wagner from near their inception in 1891. Wagner stayed with nickel plating but Griswold introduced chrome plating in the early 1930s while still making some nickeled ware. It was all chrome on the plated Griswold after WWII I think. Unless the plating is in exceptional condition I would say plated is worth a bit less than black iron. When new the plated pieces were exatly twice the price of black iron.
