I think the real concern would be in the thinness of the aluminum for the cooker. A thicker one retains more heat and would be more consistent when cooking outdoors on something like a Coleman stove. A thin one would cool easily on the unheated side, and may make it tougher to cook them evenly and may tend to scorch off the teflon on it. The electric has an element in the top and bottom for even heat. Just a thought...I could be wrong on it. If you camp with power...that's a great alternative. Doug

PS...the price on yours doesn't look so bad now does it Kevin?

Not me. I certainly feel stupid for not managing to put in a bid for a bit more than $26 last month!

It appears that the $25 electric model from Amazon doesn't have nearly as pronounced "waffle" shape as the real Waffle Dog.

So which of you who owns one will offer it to Rome Industries as a model?

Maybe Boyett Pattern could come up with something. At $60 a pop it may be worth his time.

Boyett pattern is way behind in work right now, so that won't happen. Doug

where reality runs a razor thin seam between fact and possibility;

Anywhere I roam where I lay my head is home....

Showed this tread to Janny, was thinking about getting one just for fun. That is till the price went so high. Told her we would have to start looking for one at the flea markets we go to.
She got up and went down stairs and came back with one and laid it on my lap. Said we got it a few years ago at the flea but didn't know what it was, so she put it in the basement. I thought it was a hot doggier when I bought it. We do a lot of pie irons around the fire, so I wanted one for hot dogs too. Just dumb luck I guess.
:roll:
Now have to find the recipe for maken some. :D

Well, we got lucky and found one outside of fleabay (lol)....so JimQ- it's ALL yours!!! I actually bid on this one and realized after writing the seller that he would not sell it for a good price (outside the auction) and he wrote me to say that: NO, it will sell for much more than that (I offered $40 + shipping) :shock:

So, LET THE BIDS BEGIN, again!!! (lol)
